Hurricane Question--But NOT Political

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

I hope the d-day museum fared well... it is quite well done with some good life-sized exhibits including the Higgins boat which was produced in n.o.

I felt like the French Quarter was mainly for tourists... wish I had heard some jazz.... there was a jazz tour at night with dinner, but I was getting over the flu and was dragging my butt......

We visited the place that makes the floats, I suspect that might have gotten damaged, but do not know for sure.... seems like it was next to the river. We did get beads at the float place on a tour. I offered to flash them, but they politely declined.

The floats are now so big, the parade doesn't go through the French Quarter, streets aren't wide enough.....

Update: As of Sept. 7th the latest report is no loting or water damage to the museum:http://frankwarner.typepad.com/free_frank_warner/2005/09/baghdad_to_new_.html
"Sept. 7 Update: Despite rumors to the contrary, the D-Day Museum does not appear to have been looted. The 40 museums in New Orleans took some damage, but most valuable exhibits appear to be safe. For more information"

I found this on the American Association of Museums web site:
----------
National D-Day Museum, New Orleans, LA (as of 9-7). Richard Pyle with the Associated Press reported that their New Orleans bureau sent a reporter and photographer to the museum and found it intact and with no apparent damage.
