Tele marketer problems

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

If I don't recognise the number, I don't answer. If caller thinks it's important they leave a message. If I want to communicate with them, I'll call them back. (Kinda hard to when you are in business tho.....)

Three robocalls this morning left the do not call report form up on the computer.
Yes there is a cell phone do not call list. The robocaller just dials every number and when you answer, gotcha. My problem is that I am part of a suicide watch and support system so I have to answer.

I had a parrot a Yellow Nape. She would make the "phone off the hook noise" over and over . She would get on that an not quit . I used to tell the telemarketers yeah I'm interested but hang on a minute .. I would put the phone next to her cage in a couple of minutes I would come and ask are you still there just give me another minute.. She was annoying but I learned to tune it out .

we let the answering machine answer all our home calls, on my cell I save the number with some form of name that I know is not what I want to answer as well as a ringtone that lets me know not to even bother.

Registering on the FCC do not call list has worked. The ships captain is no longer calling!!!!

I have a very simple method for getting them not to call back its not for every one though. I speak Chinese, I answer my phone in Chinese and they never call back. Works every time!

The DNC list is worthless. My brother, when he pointed out we were on it, was told: "We don't care".

I won't do what I'm doing to answer the phone any longer. My message tells people I won't talk to telemarketers and that if they want to talk to me call right back and if I'm home I'll recognize the second call is personal and not a telemarketer. Not the best solution but better than dropping what I'm doing each time (several times a day) to take a call I don't want.

Gus, I disagree, the DNC list has helped a great deal, we get no where near the call we used to, other than "card services" and as said earlier they are going after them.

Somehow I must have accidentally blocked my cell phone to the landline. When I was in the menu to unblock it, I went ahead and blocked a bunch of charity calls we get. We get so many of those, that if I had a small donation everytime, my house would be totally empty. I guess since they are charity, they can skirt the DNC list.

Earlier today, I got TWO calls from Disabled Vets. I knew for sure that I had blocked them, I checked and they used 2 different new numbers.

I've got two methods of dealing with this..... first one is a feature on my phone called "selective call forwarding" it so you can fwd calls from a certain number to your cell, I use it to fwd calls from repeat calls back to their own call center so they talk to themselves. Second method, I have twin three year olds that love to talk on the phone. I'll give them the phone and let them chatter.

I use PrivacyStar on my mobile. I have the option to block calls and texts from everything from an individual number to an entire area code! It really thwarted the most aggressive bill collectors, who gave up after attempting to contact me nearly 600 times in two years! I will not be bothered!

on my verizon cell phone I get only one call I add the number to the phone list and name it T and under ring I put it under no ring.

One the answering machine I have put several things. Some times I put please remove me from your calling list on the machine, I always put if you are not a telemarketer please leave a message and we will try and pick up.

The one I always wanted to do is the sound that you get just before you are told that this number is not connected by a recording of an operator. But I always worried that my friends would write me off too.

My mother was on the federal no call list and it worked for her. But imagine being given a list by the Federal government of who not to call and if the there is a expiration time what a list they would have. :worship:

I have one friend who gets down right mean on the phone ever try to sell to an aggressive person. :x :fb

for years we got calls nonstop, I got rid of most of them by making my answering machine message " HELLO! ............................... (pause long enough to make them think I answered) then the normal Hi! you've reached 207-339 etc, etc
that did the trick 8)

I used to have a message on my machine that went like this, "wait don't hang up, this is my phone I pay for it and if I want to call you I will. If you send me a payment on my bill then I will answer. Money talks". Now I am on the NCL . my phone line now doesn't have a phone connected to the line I just use it for the internet. I don't get many calls now!
