I actually bought Laurie a vacuum cleaner for our anniversary one year. We had a long haired dog at the time, and she had been complaining bitterly that her vacuum wasn't up to the task. She loved it, used it for 10 years, and cried when it finally broke bad enough I couldn't fix it. It all depends on the woman :)

And you didn't marry her? Let a good one get away.

Two words of advice for you with your new table saw:

PUSHER STICK

My left index finger would show you the results of not using one. I just had a couple little dados to make. Making dados, you cannot use the cover over the top of the blade because there's not cut THROUGH the wood and it can't go through the blade cover support. So I was just holding down on the wood and pushing it over the blade.

When a saw blade catches and 'kicks' the wood, it happens faster that you can blink your eyes! I knew what happened before I felt the pain in my finger.

I ALWAYS use a pusher stick now!

Well I must have married a different women. If my wife wanted any new appliance it better not come as a gift. That is the way I was trained. It started about 39 years ago and I don't see it changing anytime soon. I can't be the first man to run into this.

And feather boards (the first thing anyone should make with the new table saw). Let's keep all ouy digits. May need to signal someone sometime.

Mine too. unless she specifically asks for an appliance, it better not happen. I however, got an apple peeler/corer/slicer (nice Pampered Chef one). I guess I'm supposed to make an apple pie now. Good thing I like pie. I did ask for it BTW. Had to find something reasonably priced to keep her from bidding against me for the waffle doggers.

The saw came with a nice pusher stick with a magnet in the handle so it sticks to the side of the cabinet in easy reach. :) The featherboard was the second thing I made. first was leg reenforcements for the router table. It's too cold outside to work on the camper so I've been puttering around my little workshop space tidying up and making little improvements.

Once got a tool box for my birthday. Had friends asking me if they needed to talk to "him" for weeks after. It's still funny after all these years.

If I had a nickle for all of the tools I've received over the years from my parents and siblings....I'd have a few dollars  Of course, the tool presents I've purchased for myself....sliding compound miter saw, table saw, bandsaw, scrollsaw(s), router and bits......I don't need no stinkin' kitchen appliances  Then I'd have to cook :?

 :applause:  I've gotten a couple appliances that I've rarely ever used. When giving a gift, the term "thoughtful" should come into play for anybody.
