I would trade some of that strength for some calm. We will see what the night bring us, it will be a long one for sure. Thanks Madjack for your concern, I too hope to hear from me tommrow  Weapons loaded and the beer is on ice  just in case it goes all wrong. Hopefully it won't. I have been through way to many of these storms to not be prepared for the big one someday, again hopefully this is not the one that does it. Hey if all else fails, I still have my teardrops nice and secure for that possibility of survival after the fact. We will see what happens at a border line Cat 3 hit and growing again. I have often wondered why these hurricanes always come in at night down here. Just once I would like to see one during the day time. I can't quite figure that one out. Why always at night? And on the weekend everytime also non the less, the Gods have a rye sense of humor of weather anomalies I guess. Why not on Mondays or Tuesday. Well I guess this is kinda a Monday storm for us, sure messed up the weekend however

GOOD MAWNIN AMURICA!!

It's goin on 6AM in Central FLA and the coffee is a brewin. Your Polk County Weather Reporter is on the job, a watchin and a waitin to see how things develop round here abouts. As long as the conditions let mah puter stay turned on that is.

Yep, it's back to the Cat 2/Cat 3 borderline, one TV station says 2 and another says 3. They just caint get their acts together. Key West has some flooding and wind gusts in the 80s, but we only have a little wind and scattered rain showers so far up our way. It probably won't get too bad up here where we'uns live. We're about 150 miles north of the projected track across FLA, but It looks like it's headed right for Woody and Ira.

So, I'm off to the kitchen to get that first cuppa java...later all.

Ahhhhh...that coffee hits the spot.

Just two more observations:

First, the TV reporters are still resorting to theatrics to make things more dramatic. Why is it that the reporters can hardly stay on their feet, but the camera and lighting crew seems to have no problem with the wind keeping them from focusing on the reporter????
Second, the most overused phrase of the day..."Hunker Down". I think this one has been way overused.
And a third observation: I'd rather not have this hurricane, but it sure feels good to be able to open some windows and get cool air flowing through the house. It looks like we'll be getting a couple of our few winter days this week...down in the high 40s for a night or two. Shoot, we may have to break out a blanket for the bed.

Good to see that you still have power. This thing looks huge, I don't think any part of South or Central Florida will avoid this one. Talked to my mom and she isn't too worried. The stuff that got broken or blown over last year still haven't been fixed.

What does Dave Marsh say? He was the weather guy when we first moved there and is still there. He was my go-to guy because he was the only Meterologist for the longest time, all the rest were just weathermen.

I thought "Hunker Down" was overused last year during Frances.

Stay safe and watch out for the Tornadoes.

Well, obviously I still have power. I'd love to let some of the cool breeze in but I'd have to hack a hole through the plywood, but we still have A/C. Lots of wind but light rain so far. When we wake up in the morning the first thing that happens is Ardun Von Pooch, that's ma dawg, has to go out for his morning consitutional. Not this morning. I held up the leash and he basically looked at me as if to say, "You can go out there pal, but this dog's stayin put." Guess I better keep a close eye on him. So far have a few small tree limbs down, oak type trees. Fortunately I had my 16 parking lot palms trimmed this week, that bill really hurt, but I won't have a ton of palm branches to pick up. Looks like Ira is getting it pretty good, around 100 MPH winds. Boy, all of a sudden our wind just picked way up so I better close this before the power goes south. We are on the north side of the eye which is good. But those Carolinas are still lookin awful good. See ya on the other side if not sooner.

Just logged off when the news said a man in Coral Springs, where Ira lives, was killed when a tree fell on him. Looks like it's getting bad down that way. Stay inside Ira.

Just got a call from by kid brother in south Pompano Beach, Woody - Ira area. He now has an excellent view from his 6th floor end unit condo bedroom. A portion of the outside wall is GONE, and shingles are flying off the roof. He's in the kitchen wondering what's going to happen to the building after it's all over. But I know what to do! In his news conference just now, the Governor told me twice to "HUNKER DOWN" so that's what I'm doing.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if you guys in the SE coastal area have lost power by now. Up here near Orlando, it's been rainy and windy with gusts, but nothing like you have it down there. We haven't lost power and it doesn't look likely that we will unless we have an oak tree or big limb fall onto the lines in the neighborhood. Hang in there guys, it will be out of the state pretty soon.

It's all over where I am. The sun is out and the wind is dying down somewhat. This was the shortest hurricane I've seen. It didn't really start here start until 8AM and 8 hours later, it's just a memory. We didn't lose power in my area, but the cable was out for several hours and just came back on recently, so here I am again. I hope the guys on the lower east coast are all OK. Waiting to hear from them.

It's Tuesday, and no word yet from Ira or Woody. I hope if their power is out, it comes back soon. I'd like to know they are OK.
