Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby Chris C » Sun Oct 30, 2005 7:27 pm

Update, Update, Update.

Okay, I'm now, officially, a dutch oven addict. Where do I go for the 12-step meetings?

WOW! What meals. I have camped and backpacked for the past 30 years and I have never, in my life, eaten meals such as we had this past weekend. Doug, you are right. Tomorrow I'm buying another 8" pot! The only thing we didn't like was that we never were able to finish the pot! :? It was alway too much food!...................but GOD, What Food!!!!! In fact, we enjoyed it so much we are going back next weekend.

Julie was right, the foliage hadn't really changed yet, so we are headed back............................besides, being addicts, we just have to get another dutch oven fix! 8)

Far Southeastern Oklahoma. Beautiful area. I've hiked there for many years.

Doug,

Sorry, pal, I just now noticed your post.

Yes, too much food, and good it was. I'd gladly have shared it, but the kinds of places we camp are pretty remote. I'd have had to put a sign out for Bigfoot to come and share the food. We didn't have anyone within 5 miles of us, that I know of.

But we had so darned much fun we are headed back that direction this weekend. We're going to Beaver's Bend. Supposed to be quite warm, but maybe the foliage will be a little better. Great menu planned, though. You oughta join us. We'll be in a "sissy" campground this weekend, so there will be people around. Maybe we'll have some takers on the leftovers, ya think?
