Hi
What I have noticed is this
Yes there are a few of trolls here, very subtle and insidious; one is a religious fanatic (he won’t see it that way, he is just a happy Christian) and one who makes very subtle digs that can be read 2 or 3 ways and of course we have a few political bigots too.
Now religious nut would have a blue fit if anyone was to log on has Lucifer and were to profess to be a devil worshiper, regardless of their first amendment rights to freedom of expression and religion.
OK if the first amendment doesn’t apply here (on forum), at least apply that uniformly and enforce a strict no religion of any kind. I think Tom suggested this earlier and I agree, but if you do it, it as got to be all religions, agnostics and atheists. I saw Ira’s point, some people were allowed freedom of expression and others were not.
It’s the same with politics, I have seen several times that certain people’s views are acceptable and others get jumped on.
As far as I can see sex hasn’t been mentioned much here, except for a bigoted anti gay statement I saw posted recently. Now isn’t that amazing that an anti gay statement is allowed to stay up? That’s a political and sexual post, but hang on, if its deleted then free speech goes out the window………
Just seen the Anti Gay post reposted, like I say some people's views are allowed (even if they are anti American) The Patriot act is also anti-American and flies in the face of the constitution. Luckily in the UK Tony Blairs version of the Patriot act as been voted out.
From what I could see of Ira’s post’s before the lot got deleted (I didn’t see them all) these are the kinds of points he was trying to make; I could see he was getting annoyed at the response(s) and that his point of view was being dismissed.
I am not gay, I am not affiliated to any political party, I have no formalised religion, I am not American but love your constitution (the original one and hate the way its being abused and pulled apart now)
First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.
Pastor Martin Niemöller
Think about the above, replace Jew with any religion or lack of religion, replace any political party, replace trade unionist with any group or sexuality.
The point is we should all defend the others right's, not just our own little clique, thats what the original constitution was all about.
