Landscapes, and Hardscapes

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

This thread could help people plan future trips.

Steve,

That thought came to me as well.
I've certainly picked up ideas from pictures others have posted on the boards over the years.
Some of the neatest places have been little known county parks or sub areas annexed to bigger parks.

Here is a hardscape;

And this is a mix (me trying to be creative...)
It was taken outside Deadwood South Dakota on Kevin Costners "Tatanka" tribute to Native Americans.

One of my favorite spots is in the pines in the center of the picture. The hills and rocky ridge beyond are on the other side of a 1500' deep canyon. This is just under six miles from my front door (about 10 miles to drive on steep, often washboarded, switchbacks). 9100' elevation, so very late spring (mid-June), summer, & early fall only. This picture is a couple of years ago in early October. No services, strictly boondocking, let me know if you're interested and I'll consider sharing. :roll: Of course I'll share ... if I like you ... :R

Capulin Volcano Nat'l Mon, New Mexico - This is a particularly interesting spot. A volcanic cone that was 'built up' from lava/cinders in a relatively flat area. Nice campground & an auto road that circles the 'cone' to the top & a trail around the rim, & down into the caldera...

Man, there are some really great shots being posted. With below zero temperatures it sure is nice to look at some warm weather pictures.
