i kinda though that he would be a pretty functional person to be able to go to high school and stuff. Yeah ASL can be beautiful and useful. It can also be a plus in any job that he may take in areas of higher than usual hearing-impaired population.
A suggestion: Once he start to learn to complete a sentences with ASL and stuffs, try to look around and see if there is a deaf school in south fla. I remember visiting the one in northern fla but some state have 2 deaf school. If there are a deaf school nearby, chances are there may be a weekly deaf activities that would allow your son to practice ASL with. for example in colorado springs,CO (where i live) there is a biweekly meeting at the mall nearby. Keep an eye out for the malls around your home cause that is where most of those casual deaf meeting tends to happens. Once you find a deaf person, ask them about such a activities since most deaf knows of at least 1 or 2 activities arounds.
