Jacob (my daughter n laws youngest brother) and I played Wii Fit, Wii Sports Resort and some boxing. Played for about an hour and a half. Definately got our heart rate up. I'm not physically up to par yet...no energy at all. Have had bronchitis and sinus infection for over 2 weeks. It has kicked me to the curb. I just want this to go away so I can be back to my jolly fun self. (Husband used those words). I really still feel pretty bad but I'm trying to do things and then I find myself totally exhasted, like tonight. Getting old and getting sick really sucks. I think the exercise and Wii fun is out for a couple more weeks. Sorry... :(

Here's another reason to exercise...

Warning: Sitting on your behind can kill you

By Associated Press | Thursday, January 21, 2010 | http://www.bostonherald.com | Europe

LONDON - Here’s a dire new warning from health experts. Are you sitting down?

That’s the problem.

Sitting is deadly.

Scientists are increasingly warning that sitting for prolonged periods - even if you also exercise regularly - could be bad for your health. And it doesn’t matter where the sitting takes place - at the office, at school, in the car or before a computer or TV - just the overall number of hours.

Research is preliminary, but several studies suggest people who spend most of their days sitting are more likely to be fat, have a heart attack or even die.

In an editorial published this week in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, Elin Ekblom-Bak of the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences suggested that authorities rethink how they define physical activity to highlight the dangers of sitting.

While health officials have issued guidelines recommending minimum amounts of physical activity, they haven’t suggested people try to limit how much time they spend in a seated position.

“After four hours of sitting, the body starts to send harmful signals,â€

Mike I am familiar with that. My wife sits at a desk in an office.. but she is also often up running around. She also takes two breaks during the day.. one in the morning and another in the afternoon... and goes out for a walk.

Lisa you slacker... :D

actually Lisa is doing great.. :D

good job Aunti M

Becca.. I am sorry you have been sick. I would slowly get back into the wii.

at this point you will get back to yourself faster.. with some activity.. just be careful of doing too much.

Thanks Glenn.

I still haven't lost any weight, so says the scale, but I know that I am definitely stronger. I kinda wish I had done a before/after picture so I could see the difference.

while it won't be at your "start" you could take a photo from now...

Are you just doing the weight workouts 3 times a week? If so.. while it will contribute to your strength.. In the big picture you are not burning that many calories.
