If I lived in a place like that, I'd figure out some way to push their buttons...
Get a building permit for an out building, take and do up a perimeter foundation that the teardrop could be anchored to when "parked" on the lawn.

I recently read in the news that South Florida is having problems with wild chickens. The report stated that roosters crow at all hours of the night... Seems to me the elected officials should go after the wild chickens instead of bugging Ira.

Why not sign up and enter the Crab as a float???
You and the Crab could get a lot of attention being in a parade, but more importantly... You could make a big impact on getting your cause for property rights noticed.

It could be worse...like here in New Jersey. There are towns on the Jersey shore that want to get more property tax income...called 'ratables' hereabouts. There are a lot of developers who would love to build luxury condominiums on/near the ocean. But the properties along/near the ocean are already owned by families who have had these small-modest working-middle class homes for several generations.

No problem! City declares an 6 block area a development zone, takes property by eminent domain, offers so little money for the homes they are condemning that people cannot afford to buy elsewhere nearby.

The city will sell these properties to devleopers who pay way less than they would if they just went to the owners and said, 'We wanna buy your home and will give you fair market value $$$ for it' (hereabouts a two room 'summer cottage' within two blocks of the beach on a lot about 40 x40 is worth about $250,000) Now the Supreme Court of the USA has ruled that cities CAN do this....take your home simply because they want more 'ratables'--not to build a road, a school, or fix an infrastructure problem...!!!

That, my friend, is obscene! What's killing the country is that everything is about $$$$$$$$$$$$$--if you don't have it, you get pushed around.....

It's pathetic people whose lives are so empty that they get their fulfillment by trying to rule their neighbor's lives. Everyone knows how to run your life better than you do.

At my last home we had to get the association's approval to paint our house the EXACT SAME COLOR as it already was. When I asked why, they told me it was to keep people from painting their house a different color!?! I explained AGAIN that it was the EXACT SAME COLOR as it already was. Not different. The same. I could understand having to get approval for a DIFFERENT color, but they had already approved my color the first time. The committee gave me that dismissive look that implied I simply wasn't smart enough to understand their profound reasoning. I don't live there any more.

File an ADA complaint against their asses! You have 3000+ sufferers of the same obsessive compulsive disorder that will supply expert testimony and evidence. You suffer from the need to have a teardrop trailer and they are discriminating against you. I'm sure you can find legal representation that will take up your cause.

Property restrictions suck! You have my sympathies.

By the way, for $49, how long do you get to violate the ordinance?

What are your rules about portable garages? Maybe you could spend the cash get one of those. I would think it woudl pay itself off pretty quick as compared to boat storage fees and/or fines.

YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING. If they won't all you to park on your grass, they sure as heck won't allow a portable garage.

My little town (community? village?...it has one traffic lite) isn't all that restrictive, but it doesn have rules and you practically need a permit to do anything in your yard. I have a portable garage. However, I can't replace it with a newer one. If I leave the frame where it is, I can keep recovering it with new tarps forever...I just can't move the frame...not even to another location in the yard.

So far, residents have been able to keep boats in their driveway or even on the grass beside their houses. I haven't seen any camping trailers other than mine, but so far, no one has said that I can't have it beside the house.

A new, large subdivision of $230 and up houses are being built across the street from me, and they may have restrictions, but there's one of those houses down the street that always has from 2 to 6 vehicles in the driveway and on the grass.

Personally, I'd never live in a town or subdivision where they had restrictions. I'd buy a travel trailer and park it in one of our 50+ "retiree communities" (e.g., trailer parks) or just travel around and visit my kids.

I am sorry to inform you but according to the laws of Coral Springs changing lemons into lemonade is a manufacturing process the requires a permit cost $200, Enivromental impact assessment $49, permit processing and inspection coordination fee $50

I think Ira was referring to the past days when blacks were not welcome in some cities. Considering the past actions of our country, the connection that Ira was trying to make is one that is understood by most as not being a racist remark.
