Mac G5 Trouble

I had the Dual G5 and now have the Intel. And I don't have the native Adobe stuff yet either. And that's where I'm supposed to see the difference.

I'm still Quark thoigh--haven't made the InDesign jump.

Oh, you gotta try InDesign. A whole lot of people and design shops have jumped. I think it is much better than quark. I still have Quark, for when some customer abosolutely makes me use it, but I charge them extra. I really do.

I have issues with Adobe, but not near the issues I had with Quark.

My G5 is back home and running great. The motherboard was replaced. It's only money, I guess. Anyway, it's good to be back up to speed. The e-machine I use for a backup is like driving a '63 bug when you're used to a Porche 911.

Now that you're back up and running, I guess this thread is free game for a good hijack eh?

It was good to meet you in Wells, NV. and again at the Bonneville truck stop. I never did get to see Grant or Don Ferdinand out there.

Kevin, Yes, It was good to meet you also. We had a good time at the bend in the road and also out on the salt. It was good to see Sumner and Dean. Sunday night we had five teardrops in our little circle. There was another circle of three or four and a few others scattered among the big rigs. It was my first time at speedweek but probably not my last.

If you use Illustrator and Photoshop, you will find InDesign somewhat familiar just from that.

It took me very little time to make the switch. I was suprized.

American Driver is digital from photo, to layout, and directly to plate using a PDF workflow, and using Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign makes it a pretty smooth process.

I use CS3 at the magazine office, but my home office is on CS2 -- I could load the office software at home, but I have a thing about that -- it is stealing, IMO.

Anyway, I think you will like InDesign, if you give it a try.

Doesn't Adobe give you the extra mobile license for free for the house?

I know it's a pretty seamless transition from Q to ID--just haven't made the switch yet. Only have CS2 in the office, so maybe when I get 3, I'll start playing with it.

It's not like Q has been such a pleasure to work with all the time.

Hardly ever use Illustrator though.
