I have seen better customer service at the box stores lately(stop and ask if you need help rather than just walk by), don't know if it is the economy or what.

In certain stores, the sales people are now trained to ask if you need help because, as well as being just plain good business, it also tells the customer that they see him or her and are watching. This is especially important when the economy is bad as it has been have discovered that if the sales people talk to the customers, the number of thefts go down. Unfortunately, it doesn't mean the sales person will have a good answer to your question.

Around here the HD's have assigned their employees a "Power Hour." Best I can understand they rotate Power Hours so that someone is always "standing in an aisle doing nothing" other than asking if they can help you. Drives me nutttts.... I usually respond, "No, haven't been in for a while and just dropped by to say hello."

For me Ace is the Place but HD is closer and more "convenient"

I've been pretty happy at Lowes.. luckily, after I moved, a L's opened just 2 miles away.

I got so tired of all the orange at h/d, that lowes is kind of relaxing... and I've been able to find (with or without help) pretty much anything I want.

In my former town, there was a local h/w store that was pretty much as people have said... very helpful and great selection.

In my town, the people at Lowes are very helpful (almost to the point of being annoying). At the locally owned Ace, the help, which most appear to be family of the owner, are a bunch of slugs who could care less if a customer needs help or not. The local HD never cared about good customer service until Lowes opened up right across the road.

I was in Academy (Sports and Outdoor) about a month ago, and every employee who passed within 20 feet of me stopped to ask if they could help me find anything. That does get annoying.

What grinds my gears.
I ask 9644 people including my older brother who I might add works in and has worked in the metal field for years. What type of Aluminum should I use to repair my 1940s modernistic/cub. I received one answer from the 9644 and It wasn't the one I was looking for.But it helped me feel better. As for my brother I will deal with him later. Wayne
PS I did find a little help on another web site.

:oops: Try .063 because no bracing was used. Just skin to skin. But I'm not 100% sure on that. :thinking:

Gage what would you suggest for a grade 3003,5052.6061? This is were my brother got a little here or there. And when I looked it up on the Internet It was kinda the same way. All kinda foreign to me. I just need someone to show me the stuff and say hay this is the Aluminum you need for that trailer of yours. It would work perfectly. I found that trying to find things for old trailers is like a visit to the dentist. -Wayne
PS Sorry for changing the subject.

5052 = more bendy (and cheaper) than 6061
3003 = ???

Answer = 5052

I'm not Gage, but ,"hay this is the Aluminum you need for that trailer of yours".

One of those 9644 people didn't answer because he didn't have a clue. ;)

I’m one of those 9644 who didn’t have a clue. I don’t own one – or have any experience with one – so maybe I should go to where the question was asked and state so – now if the others would as well, maybe you’d get an answer? 128 people did at least look at your question. THAT grinds my gears

I recently posted some plans and a design and for four days no one even responded to it, although it was look at - so I guess 9644 didn't have an opinion either
