BOOTY MAGNETS

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby Rick Sheerin » Sat Dec 12, 2009 4:23 pm

Some people really have to lighten up around here and take things a little less seriously. A little tongue in cheek comment isn't going to hurt anybody if it wasn't said maliciously. Why do some people have to read into things that obviously aren't there. I'm sure that offending someone was the furthest thing from Jocko's mind when he made the original post.

Hey gang,

Sometimes a term can have different nuances of meaning in different contexts and in different situations. I don't think anyone meant any harm. However, I also don't believe it is necessarily a term for polite company.

Historically, I regret to advise that I have heard this term used in a manner that would clearly be offensive and disrespectful to some. I am not suggesting that was the intention in this case, just that sometimes a term has different subtle shades of meaning based upon the experience and context of others, of which some might even be unaware.

I think the wording was unfortunate for what is clearly a well-intentioned thread for us to share pictures of our pets. Just my 2-cents.

Sorry if I got too out there (must have mixed up my meds) I didn't mean to offend or hurt anyone's feelings. Honestly it is in my vocabulary as term for a special small dog that is simply irresistable and generates a lot of attention from the ladies.

I have always been a fan of bigger dogs and couldn't stand those shaky little drop kick poodels, and then I met Casper. I had been cruising the animal shelters for a dog for my daughter and one day Casper was there covered with ticks but his eye's were as bright as ever. I called the nanny and asked her to bring my daughter down right away. My daughter agreed and Casper was ours. Even though Casper is my daughter's dog he has adopted me. I can not leave the house without him and everywhere I take him he is the center of attention. I can't help but to spoil him rotten.

From a few of the responses I can see others have a similar bond with a special small dog.

So how about some pictures?

Be careful, someone will surely take offence at that statement. You must always be politically correct on this board so as not to offend anybody.

This whole thread reminds me of a time I thought to start a crafting business called Dirty Nick and His Dirty Dad as my son and I had come to be called when he was a toddler. I looked up the name on the internet just to avoid any possible cpoyright infringement. Believe me, if you don't want to be offended don't look up Dirty Nick on an urban slang web-site. I thought I had heard just about everything, but that just about made my face red and I was the only one in the room! My point: You can find filth just about everyhere in today's world; let's try not to let it screw up (oops bad choice of word) make that, mess up this fine web-site.

Best,
Tom

Wilbur the Wonder Dog

Postby Alfred » Sat Dec 12, 2009 8:00 pm

Wilbur the Wonder Dog.

He ain't much, but if we ever have a T&TTT "ugliest dog" contest, he might win...

He also has a brain about the size of a garden pea. He's good with the kids, though.

Still trying to figure out where I went wrong so I did some research at one of my favorit sites: peopleofwalmart.com and this is what I found, second picture down:

http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/?cat=5&paged=21

If I had known the term could have been used in such a way I would have never used it.

The internet can be a great resource but it can also have some unintended consequences.

Last year my wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I told her I would like a new golf club. She asked where she could get it and I told her they had them at Dicks.

I think you can probably guess where this is headed. She apparently typed in the address "www.dicks.com".

Why it took her over an hour to tell me that address didn't work is still a mystery to me.

My I suggest that you use dickssportinggoods when looking for their products.

Back to the subject at hand, I had a black Cocker Spaniel when I was younger. He attracted women like a moths to a flame. Unfortunately they were all more interested in the dog than me.

After we got married we got another black Cocker named Salem

Here is is on our boat.

Somehow this one only attracts men. Go figure.

By the way, you probably shouldn't Google "Cockers" either.

If a man says something in camp, and no woman is around to hear it...Is he still wrong?
