Oh I just love the snow, especially in the early morning. Then when I realize how cold it is, I leave the local mountains to enjoy the desert views, then drive down to the beach, do a little surfing, then have a nice meal in Beverly Hills and finish the day off enjoying an evening at Disneyland.

Naw, just kidding, but I did leave Northern Illinois, when I found out it didn't snow in Calif, while on my honeymoon in 1954. Now on a serious note, I think it would be a good idea for some teardropper who has a little time on his hands, to build a full-scale TD totally out of snow. Come on, lets see what it looks like. I'll be looking for the pics. Thanks.

Roly, would you recommend Mid-Atlantic or Northeastern Snow for the Ice-Dropper Build(?) Wet snow or dry? More malleable dry, but holds together better wet, I would think...

As the old saying I just made-up goes:

Ice is nice, sleet is neat, but a snow-built teardrop, can't be beat...
(But don't you dare take it near the heat...)

Come to think of it, I think I saw one of these once, seems to me the fellow called it "an igloo"...

It finally started snowing about an hour ago around the Hartford area here in CT. We only have a dusting right now, but it's supposed to start increasing in accumulation pretty rapidly. Based on the way it's starting to come down now I'd say they're going to be right. My area is supposed to get somewhere between 8 & 14 inches overnight with some areas of the state getting closer to 2 feet. Now this is more like what a New England winter always used to be. The past few years we haven't had as much snow as usual. I'm not complaining though...While it really is pretty to watch fall and to look at when it's fresh...it sure does stink having to clear it.

Snow Shovel 12/20/09

Postby Alfred » Sun Dec 20, 2009 5:05 pm

Hey Gang,

Here it is, a pictorial history of my first time shoveling snow, Florida-boy moved to the mountains...

Image

I know, I know its a garden spade, not a snow shovel...One makes do with what one has...I'm goin' for the 'American Gothic' look here...

Image

Started with the sidewalk to get out to the truck...

Image

Then the driveway to the road...

Image

Took me about two hours or so....Now, I can go out, but I'm too tired to do so!

Hiker Chick, when I had two dogs, one was a terrier (Casey) that hated cold, and the other was a Shelty/Border Collie mix with a thick undercoat.

When we got freezing weather and/or snow, Casey could be found sleeping by the fireplace, and Ginger could be found napping on the patio.

I could put Ginger outside on a snowy, icy, miserable day, and she would not want to come in until suppertime.

Casey would go outside, do her "business" and come right back in.

We got our big dump of snow on the 7th. This pic was about 1/2 way through it. Fairly large storm for N. Cal...I hate shoveling this driveway!
