A newbie question on bears

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

 3 short stories, 1 my dog tried to chase an armadillo up my leg, I side stepped at the last instant and it put a dent my garage door they have some very sharp claws for digging but are nearly blind. 2 On the way to work one of my co-workers ran over a five foot rattler, he curled it up under another guy's car door, a toyota tercel. The secong guy left work, he said he looked down and the snake was between his feet. He claimed he jumped over the car, we're sure he yelled loud enough to get a security guard to investigate (the guard was about seventy- five yards away). 3 the victim in last story and another guy were "drunk riding" on the county dirt roads and spotted a 2 foot tall barn owl standing in the middle of the road looking stunned, they decide they would take it to the local sanctuary. After capturing the bird they put it on floor board on the passenger side and started down the road. The bird gradually regained it senses and start walking up the passenger's leg, he thought it was cool until the bird got to his lap, he then yelled to the driver "Get this chicken off me" the bird moved one more time and he whispered " no, don't touch him"

OK...from now on when I go camping where bears are a possibility, I am doing the following upon going to bed...

1. Take my handy pepper spray with me (the stuff I made up from Habanero peppers and that I use to kill roaches).

2. Make Bill sleep by the one door so he's the main course in the event of an attack.

3. Either take a sleeping chicken (a bit hard to do) or keep a whole frozen chicken to bounce off the head of any nosey bear.

When I was in my teens and working at a summer camp in the Poconos, I used to jog at dusk. (That's when I had a body that was worth keeping in decent condition.)

I mainly did this on the same small road, and one time, a black beer was exiting the woods onto the road as I was running toward him at a pretty good clip.

It was like a Bugs Bunny cartoon, my heels throwing sparks as I tried to stop before colliding with him right in the ass...him still on all fours...and then giving me a glance over his shoulder, saying to me like, "What are you doing, idiot?"

I almost peed my pants, and he (or she, I didn't look) did not go into any kind of defensive/offensive mode at all. Granted, eastern black bears usually won't "eat" people, but you figure he would at least want to protect his ass. (Get it? But it's still a true story.)

After this experience, I stopped jogging at dusk, and I learned to appreciate possums.

They're smaller than me, won't attack you, and they move real slow.

I was discussing this topic of bears with a friend of mine that does trailer restorations, here in Albuquerque. He sent me this link to a trailer that he is restoring:

This was done by a hungry bear! There are more pics at the site.

Ouch is right!

So....you're laying in bed and along comes a bear and he thinks "I'll just peel back that tin foil pouch of a tear drop with my big ole 6 inch nails and have a little midnight snack of humans".

Bring the mustard.

Okay--enough about a newbie question regarding bears.

I have an expert question about beers:

Budweiser's Sept 13, 2005's born-on date versus Sept. 15.

Which do you think was a better vintage?

This does not have to do with bears but pepper spray plays a big part..

I have no idea if it is true or not but it is very funny.

My latest brush with wildlife. Not to big, but kinda scary when found in the bathroom here at work.

We don't see too many of these up here. Luckily.

Crushed? Hell no. You have to get close to it to crush it. We sprayed it. I wanted to use contact cleaner and a match, but you know OSHA and all.
