Teardropping & Geocaching

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby Arne » Wed Apr 26, 2006 1:30 pm

I've recently torn my gps off my motorcycle and have gone into the woods, geocaching.... It is kind of neat, but can be frustrating at times....

I do see it as one of the best family entertainment devices to come along. Outside, exercise, problem solving....

I highly recommend it. It has taken me to new places and has found me avoiding making new friends (those Muggles always want to know where it's hidden!)

And, the dog thinks it's great..... most of the time I'm in remote areas (ah, remember the cell phone) so she can run....

------------------

An interesting item on tv today.... a girl accidentally drives her car off a pier and into deep water.. she has the presence of mind to CALL 911 using her cell phone from under water.... What do I do.?? Amazing....

There is something similar to Geocaching, called LetterBoxing. Similar concept int hat you find clues to hidden boxes, but instead of trinkets you will find stamps. The premise is that you make your own rubber stamp that you carry with you, as your "signature", and when you find a letterbox, you make your mark in the logbook of that box. Then in your own logbook that you keep with you, you stamp with the stamp located in the letterbox. Kind of like passport kind of thing! I haven't started doing it yet, but it sounds intriguing. If I can just be creative enough to make my own stamp!! Maybe a teardrop motif :)

I probably didn't explain it very well, so here's a website for it:

Cheryl,
Many cache logbooks have been stamped, presumably by letterboxers!
Crossover treasure hunters!
