So Glenn....you've heard the saying "Good fences make good neighbors", right?

That's what I'd do. Talk to them, trying to remain calm, and build an nice 6 foot privacy fence all the way down the property line.

You may also want to take pictures of the tree damage, and maybe try to find some before pictures, then go talk to a lawyer. It would be nice to know your legal options. I would take the pictures anyway, just for a record.

Were the trees pruned properly? If they were just "hacked away" you might get an estimate from an arborist (?) to know how much it would take to repair the damage.

good morning Johnny..

I was looking at 400'-600' feet of fence... a 6' privacy fence.. would be major bucks.. $> $>

As of yet.. they have not really affected our privacy. As far as legal action someone recommended a forester. Off hand what they have done.. is done ok..

they basically took all the lower branches of 3 [maybe 4] trees.

All but one are closer to the line.. one is way off.. They did take and cut the ends off the branches of one of my big trees... parts that were overhanging their side.. which they might have a right to. of course they were not correct on the line.. and cut them further back than they needed..

I have been out working in the yard.. and in the woods. I cleaned up some of my stump work. It needs to dry a little before I level it all. I did also ended up doing some trail work. I ended up in an area where I was some distance away from where they cut my trees... but not look like I was spying. I did hear him use his mower some. [he has been out mowing his field]

We also were making some noise.. and had some equipment out.. so if they wanted to talk.. they knew we were right there.. and nothing...

Oh no they didn't!!! You need to build a fence and paint it in tacky colors to annoy them.

Or do something like this.

glenn, maybe these city folks just need to be instructed on proper etiquette for country living

OR you could use a more subtle approach......

ok.. so we did some work here... and then I decided I would go help my friend that I visited this morning. He was going to stay around the house all day and work. We get there and they are done for the day... :?

He want to come see our projects.. and my hoe.. and then go for a hike.

So we did.. we had a great hike.. we are 50's and sunny... :D

although there is still a bit of snow in the woods..

We are going out to dinner before for to long with a few others... :D

oh.. and when we all left for the hike.. our neighbor was out.. I usually ignore him.. but I waved.. :D

He just stared...
