WOW! the last couple days have been so hot and humid. Mid to upper 90's and heat index of 104 - 107! Not much fun for mowing lawns for sure!!

I am totally exhausted by the end of the day lately. Next week should be a bit cooler and less humid I hope anyway!!

We had a front come through today.. so our temps and humidity improved bit.

I am trashed.. fairly exhausted.. It's been a busy week.. just crazy busy.. and Lots of Crazies.

@#$%$# crazy on the roads today. A near miss right in front of me on the way to work this morning.. which might have included me it if happened. I was almost rear ended by a rescue truck at lunch. It was coming up fast on a road I was pulling onto.. there are trees so you can only see so far.. they didn't have lights or sirens on until they were RIGHT behind me. :? Then some guy almost hit me on the way home. He was beside me on my left.. and wanted my lane… except I was there.. he almost hit me.. then sped up passed a car ahead of me and cut them off to turn right :? :x

@$#^% stupid people at work.. busy waiting on 3 people at once.. and someone calls.. "Someone gave me an old something or other] can you tell me what it's worth? " That's like called a garage and saying I have an old Chevy.. what's it work…. except the brand he mentioned I had never heard off.. so Like calling someone I have an old car.. what's it worth…

We had a fitness delivery.. Paul forgot the dolly.. so we got to man handle a 350 pound treadmill… This customer a year or so ago.. purchased a treadmill from us. He was told this treadmill required a 20amp dedicated circuit.. a circuit wit NOTHING else on it. He told us he did. Well the machine developed problems.. we go back again and again and again.. trying to fix it.. we eventually did this with THREE TREADMILLS.. AND they all quit.. and they get pissed at us.. and you know what? they were lying.. they never had what was required of the machine!!!!

about that time I would have told them to take a hike.. The boss gave them some trade in value on it.. and sold them an elliptical.. that does not have the power demands.

Going to be another hot and really humid day here. Heat index could hit 110!!

I need to mow of course. Just not sure when. Maybe in about an hour or so before it gets unbearably hot.

Tired and irritable.. and a rainy day. After not being able to work here much of the week.. I am sort of disappointed with the rain.. but I am also sort of feeling the need to rest. We do have stuff to get ready for Monday.. and so far the weather for Monday sounds ok… but otherwise I am not sure we are doing anything. We have gathered and organized tools etc, and our last batteries are charging. We do have more metal, and 2x4's to get moved up onto the roof. [we keep getting interrupted by rain] We do have all tomorrow to get that finished. We do have a family function this afternoon. [which is supposed to be our wettest anyways]

Still maybe a little irritable.. today's weather is better than what was forecast. We had cloudy.. foggy.. warmish weather.. which has periodically cleared.

We have been working on the barn. We started putting our metal on the wall. It's going ok. We have gotten to the window.. and It took some time to figure out how to do the trim. My literature shows what pieces to use.. and I have ordered that.. but NOTHING shows the corners.. how does one mate the top drip edge to the side J-chanel.. or the side J-chanel to the bottom piece. So far anything I find on-line omits that part of the details. :?

At the lumberyard I was just told to get creative. :? :NC

I have gotten creative cutting and bending the ends. I do have some ice and water shield I have applied to the some parts of the corners.. and will caulk them. The areas around the window is PT 2x4.. I have one more side piece to put up.. then back to the wall metal.. although the next one of those needs to be cut to fit around one side of the window opening. It might be a little "fun" trying to get it in place.. bend the all the J channels…

Yeah, my siding guy cuts and bends the ends of the J channel to overlap. But that is with vinyl, it might be totally different with metal.

Another hot and humid day here with excessive heat warnings!

A long ass day today.. although a productive one. We were really sure when Bruce would show up.. and wanted to get going anyways. I think we started 6:30 or so.. he was here by 7:30. We got the roof done.. we had a good system… although I was the gopher. Up and down the ladder.. many many times. We had a good system.. and got done what we wanted / needed. It was pretty warm and humid today.. but not quite as bad as it's been.. we did periodically get some clouds which helped. Also this roof sloped slightly away from the sun instead of towards it. We also had something for a breeze a bit of the time.

Part way through the day.. later in the day.. my dick-head neighbor hollered over about the noise. He never would have said anything had we not "complained" about the music. We basically ignored him.. and he started mowing his lawn… I don't know if he wanted quiet for mowing.. or if he was trying to make noise back.

We got the roof done.. and he goes.. whats next? So we put a rake trim on another part of the roof we hadn't got to yet. He again said what's next… and I thought maybe we should take a little break… before the bike ride.

An ok day at work yesterday.. and our ride last night was "rained out". Some rode.. some didn't. It was rainy at the start.. and the radar looked pretty bad. I didn't want to make a mess of our good bikes.. for a short ride so we bailed. [they did abbreviate it]

We had a bit of rain last night. The weather is supposed to be improving today.. but I don't see it yet. It's been showery.. Not a good day for anything on the barn.. but we do have that gabion to work on. I got most of the rest of the tying done this morning. Laurie came home for the day at lunch time. I got the rest of the tying done.. while she works with the rock.

I went in to the lumberyard on the way to work, to order more metal. There is an up charge for cutting.. if the pieces are too small. { I need some 19" pieces for one of my upper walls} So far I don't even have a price yet… :? So much for getting this stuff for the weekend. :NC :(

I still have some metal to do on the wall on this side. I do have flashing to do on the other side.. then to put house wrap and 2x4's before the metal.. not that that will take too long. We can also continue work on the gabion… and I guess we could do some mowing this weekend. Because of the lack of rain.. we have been able to go a few weeks.

On my metal.. I did not want an exposed cut edge. The upper section will be covered by a J chanel.. but the bottom will be exposed and visible. My clerk had suggested I order 58" pieces and cut them in half… but putting the sheets on properly so the overlap is on the correct end.. you end up with an exposed cut edge on every other panel. The 58" piece there is no extra cutting fee.. on the 19" there is an extra charge… I was ready to order yesterday.. I just wanted a rough idea… on the charge. Where as they felt the need to warm me about it, I wanted an idea. So 30 hours later.. I get a quote per sheet.. which means nothing to me… so he has to call back.. and call me back. Under a certain length panel there is an extra charge per cut. It's $1.00 I need 10 sheets… so an extra $10.00 dollars for that wall. WTF.. putting a value on my time, I can't cut it for that much.. just Fn order it… they could have done that yesterday.. and not done all this screwing around. :?

I have been going to this place for years… I have NEVER asked for a quote.. and not that often even ask for a price. back when I was comparing one insulation to another.. a few things that way. :x :x

We have better temps and humidity… and a nice sunny one on tap today. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice also.. as is the start of Sunday. It is supposed to cloud in later, with rain overnight and a rainy Monday.

I was hoping do get a LOT of work in this weekend.. but  Laurie had to work today… and we just learned of a family event mid day tomorrow…

I was hoping to squeak in a bike ride tonight.. but I will forgo that to get some work done. There is some work I am doing now that would be much easier with another set of hands.

Laurie was hoping to get out an hour early.. so I might take a little break till she gets here.. so I might have some energy to last another 3 to 4 hours. hmm although I have gotten more done than I thought.. what can we do tonight? More house wrap on the little upper wall where I am currently working. Frame that in 2x4's to get ready for my siding. Then the drip edge ext. on the new south side roof.

Oh yeah.. I still have the rest of the metal to put up on the wall with the window. All of that will take a little time.

That leaves some gabion work for the rest of the weekend. I am hoping we can get this next section filled this weekend… and I guess I will be ok with that. :)

Well, another hot, long week. Just too wiped out at the end of the day for much of anything. Today was mid 80's but less humid than it has been.

We are going to be aerifying greens next Monday and Tuesday. So, I will be work at the GC all day Monday and half days the rest of the week. But at least temps are to be down in upper 70s for the most part! :D

My FIL is in the hospital with a bladder infection and not sure when he will be released. So, not sure about plans for the weekend. Just continue to get things more organized and put away from the move a year ago.

We got a bit done yesterday. I got what I had planned on the barn except for the metal siding. I was tired enough I did not want to try and cut a sheet around the window. So we quit and had supper. I was finishing supper and I hear "clunk clunk clunk" outside. Laurie is moving rock.. by hand for the gabion. She said she didn't have all her steps in. She has a fit bit and "needs" to get her 10,000 steps in a day. :o Moving rock is a pretty hard way to be getting steps in. Anyways I was feeling guilty.. and go out and help. We have a bit more filling to do.. and with larger rock.. so I used the tractor and excavator. We move them from the pile… to near the wall, with the tractor. I then pick them up with the excavator and place them in the baskets. I worked until near dark… and she kept at it. :o

Metal this morning.

Oh… working on the back wall last night.. and measuring for my 2x4 strapping. I realized I ordered the wrong size metal. :? :x It was supposed to be 29" … and I called from work and messed up.. I think I ordered 19. :o :NC

Laurie ran in to call for me.. and the lumber yard called the metal place and phew… caught it. They had not processed the order yet. :)

We got the rest of the metal on the south side upper wall. We also got our next gabion filled. We still need to put the top on, and need to back fill it with crushed rock. We also got the lawn mowed. We had a party Saturday afternoon. A surprise birthday party for my Uncle [80th]

Today we have heavy rain. A day off is ok :) I have some errands I can do… and need to do some figuring.

We have metal to do on the other side of the upper barn section. That should go up pretty quickly. Then I have two smaller wall areas to do. I might do wood. They are short walls.. or sections that have some weird cuts. That will be easier to do with wood. While there is a bit more to do, that will be a good finishing spot, so I can move back to the porch.

ZZZZZZZZZZ Tired this morning.. I haven't slept that great the last couple of nights… [worse than usual].

I had an ok day at work yesterday.. Not fantastic.. but nothing bad either. We still have a bit of work to do, but were not so crazy busy with customers. It's harder for me now though. I normally work with one person Tuesday… a different one on Thursday.. and neither are all that productive this time of year.. they seem to leave most of the tune ups to me. They spend a lot of time on the computer.. and doing other stuff… which makes it harder for me to really bust my butt. :NC

We had a great ride last night. Some faster people showed up again. We had 8 in our group… 9 in the other. The guys in the fast group let Laurie pull for several miles… when one of the turkeys took off dropping her. It sort of split there.. I at first stayed back with her.. then went to join the others.. then got stuck behind another that was getting dropped on a hill. So chase chase chase.. then another one ahead of me got dropped on a hill.. so the others were aways ahead again.. I semi slowed for this last guy.. but he was slowing more.. and the others were getting away.. so chase chase chase. They backed off, for they were not sure where to go.. I caught them and went to the front. I ended up pulling for over 4 miles.. no one would come around… :NC I started slowing down and eventually someone came around. It was a good hammer.. and I was surprised I could hang considering how little riding we have been doing.

Working here today.. I have been to the lumber yard already.. Laurie will be home for the day at lunch.. We will put the new metal up on another wall, and probably house wrap and strap others. I need to look at the small roof I want to build off the end of the porch… a small curved metal extension to match the curve star wall where the fireplace is…. and next I guess is starting to take apart the parapet wall around the porch so I can fix that. I am not sure what I am going to have to do here, for I don't really know what I am going to run into.

We finally got out on a Wednesday night ride. They were heading to one of my favorite trail.. so we quite early to get ready for the ride.. and we had a great time. :) It's more of an old school trail.. with a 5 mile climb up Vienna mountain.. the top is all blueberry fields.. and the scenery is great.

This morning I started tackling that parapet wall.. and it is BAD.. I figured it would be bad.. but it seems to be worse than I thought. The whole top is rotted.. and I might have to take apart the inside of the porch to get at it. We got part way through tearing the upper part apart.. and Laurie asks if a dumpster would be easier.. and ahh yeah.. that would help.. so she called.. and they were not sure they could get it here until Monday. :NC Which is of course perfectly understandable… less than an hour and a half later.. it was here. :)

This wall is partially backed with a sprayed concrete wall… and with that.. I am wondering now about kind of building from the top down? or at least the upper middle, up, and then working on the below stuff after. I have the wall to fasten to.. and then I can properly roof the top of the new wall… then seal it to the porch roof.

Laurie was asking if I am going to the lumber yard in the morning for material.. and I don't know how I am going to build it yet.. so I don't know what I need. :NC
