Joanne -

Don't feel alone . . . I am not on the list, either. I have a Swiss last name. Go figure.

Burton is number 230 on the list. I kind of figured that, as you should see the number of Michael Burtons, and even Michael P. Burtons, you run across with Google.

There was another Michael Burton here in Hayden Lake a couple of years ago. He taught nursing at the North Idaho Training center; at a different time, I taught computers there. He left here under a cloud and I am still getting phone calls about his debts. I really hate others besmirching my name.... :D

well considering that this list is only based on 50,000, I wouldn't depend on this as an accurate deciption of how high is your surname ranked among the americans nationally. this is more equilivant to an ranking system in a town.

here is a better source of informations for your surname ranking by the 1990 census though I don't really understand the resulting information myself.

http://www.census.gov/genealogy/www/namesearch.html

My last name is Stroud and it ranked 1264 on the census site.

P.S. Danny, this is not meant to go against you or something, I merely wish to help clarify some of the ideas i seems to be seeing here.

P.S. oh i looked around and it seems like tonyj have been to this site also. (that is how he got the top 10 search result)

20,679 on the first list and 17,334 on the second, if spelt correctly (Gibbens) - but 1,112 if spelt the way most people do (Gibbons).

Oh, wait, I'm not in the USA.........

Don't know him. There seems to be a lot of "us" back in Tenn. When we first moved to Portland we were the only Bledsoe's. Now there are lots and one with my same first name and I don't know any of them.

#19 for me.
Go figure, my Dr. had 7 of us with the same
first and last names as patients. I used to check the chart
after she asked me how my pacemaker was doing.
I don't have a pacemaker.
