I'll never live down that Bestine. But do you remember ATEX?

Thanks for the info guys. This should be a fun little project.

Don't make jokes--I grew up in Brooklyn and we didn't learn about this stuff while working on tractors.

I did an ebay search and didn't find anything, but aren't there web sites where you can find parts from junkyards? Maybe that's my best bet--just getting the same unit with the CD.

Funny thing is, maybe when I replace the speakers, it'll sound okay. But I'd still like that CD in there.

Yeah you might want to change out the speakers first. they are cheap to replace and made a big difference -- I couldn't believe how much they had rotted away.

holy crap! That Crutchfield site has EVERYTHING!

Which is why it's confusing the crap out of me.

95 Geo Tracker, it's showing replacements for my vehicle, but some look like they need a face plate.

Let me steal an hour of my boss's time and figure this out.

They will send you all the stuff required to replace your radio.

I've bought a couple different systems from them to replace factory radios. Great tech support too!

So, Brooklyn was all farmland back in the twentieth century? (why else would they have tractors?)

The Italians grew tomatoes on the roof, but that was about it.

Ira,
Go down to your local library and see if they don't have a Haynes Manual, or the ability to InterLibraryLoan one, for either the GeoTracker or the Suzuki Sidekick/Samurai.

And here's a kit to put in an aftermarket stereo

If not for eBay, my Geo would have been parted out by now.

What about an MP3 player and an fm sender to get the sound through the radio? No cd's to haul around.

you'd never have to listen to talk radio again?

Sign me up!

I spent parts of this past week on the road (not camping :p ) and driving long distances.
For years (since, oh, 1978) it's been my habit to tune in a country station and crank it up to stay awake, as that keeps me from having to stop too often for coffee or to pay the rent on same.

I hadn't done a long-distance road trip in about five years, and I was shocked and disheartened to discover that not only isn't there any music left on AM radio (where I used to listen to the likes of WBAP all night) but now there's darn little country -- and Sean Hannity and his clones all over FM radio, too. You can't find George Strait on the radio in Texas these days, but you can get MIchael Savage and Rush Limbaugh all up and down the dial.

As my sons say, this is TEH SUXXORSS!!!

Save your sanity and get yourself an MP3/CD player. The price of them have really come down. You just burn a bunch of MP3s onto a CD and pop it into the player, viola! 12hours of music (this varies of course).

The El Cheapo one I had in my old truck could access 250 songs on a single disc. The one that came factory in my new truck has an in-dash 6disc changer, I can have 1500songs in the radio without having to fumble with anymore discs. It also has a port to plug in an iPod but I haven't needed to do so.
