Well As I started this Im going to tell you how the event continued and what took place today..and I think you deserve to know..

And as of yesterday which was Saturday at 10 am Finnish Time..

I go to the airport which is about 10 minutes away..nervous and uneasy
and not to awake as I didnt sleep too well because of my sister arriving and certainly worried as to the outcome..and reaction.

I no sooner get to the airport and to the arrival gate arrives a gal with eye contact and says Good Morning Heikki out of all people she picked me out like a sore thumb    and I as well since there was some sort of resemblance ...

First thing she said was.. got to go and have a cigarrette as its been 30 hours since I had one..

Melbourne, Bankok, Stockholm, Helsinki..ouch and yikes... also the time difference of 7 hrs ahead of us... :? :o

What a trip.. She explains the flight in an Australian accent.. which I thought immediately as exotic and nice..

Ohh wow.. a sister 10 years younger than me.. with an Australian accent..

We get to our house and do the greetings and hugs and ...

She hugs our boys and says.. finally I see my big brother mum told us about.. aaaaaand my lil nephews .. it was exciting, sad and happiness all in one package.. nervousness and excitement once again eyes rollin from both sides at each other..and in the end tears, and tears.. and then smiles..

She had jet lag I could tell and from looking I felt like I had it as well.

It didnt take her long to sit down and literally fall asleep sitting up..the wife had made dinner and we got her to eat... with tea for after and

then a quick trip to the shopping mall to get winter gloves, sweaters and hat and few other things as she never has been in a cold climate and snow could hit us at anytime..she didnt have any thing real warm to suit our climate even though it was nice and sunny at minus 2 in the sun..

Kind of funny for her as she left with 30 degrees celcius in Melbourne

..

Well it was time for her to "Gladly go to sleep" and it happened in seconds .. out like a light..

Next morning we get up and have our continental breakfast ..
and it was about as exciting as her arrival..

Well its Sunday morning and I have a sister over from Australian trying to stick a spoon full of "Vegimite" into my mouth stating its great and everyone in Australia Loves it..

My reaction was :? :duh  Sister sayin. and I once again :duh :duh :CC :O Ahh its ok .. I guess and she stuffs a vegimite sandwich into my mouth and being a gentleman and polite I swallow and quickly drain it down over a cup of coffee :coffee: and sister has a big :laughing1: :bounce: :rofl2: :snappy: ..

What a tease early in the morning...and 1st meeting ..yikes.. :MLAS

We had to be about 200 kilometers away where mum as she calls her was in the hospital.. and had to be at her Hotel at 1300 for keys
and it was already almost 11 am.. and had 200 kilometers to drive..

We had 15 minutes to spare when we arrived so I guess I drove quite fast according to her..  Legal Speed Limit of 120 km per hr.

Things tense up all of a sudden since we were at the Hospital gate and entry way.. tears start rolling out of both of our eys..

Its been 15 years for my sister since she saw mum last and 1st time for us to meet so I guess there was nervousness and excitement in the air.

Mind you also Finnboy (on the forum here once in the while) - (my son age 15 ) sees my sister also for the 1st time.. was with us..so this was also his 1st time to see and meet his real grandmother that he never saw but only heard of.. :o

I,ll continue this in a moment (Coffee Time) and Kimi Räikkönen is World Champion in Formula News Special

Right back

Classic Finn ;)

So now we are in the corridor of the section of the Hospital where mum is.
with the nurse taking us there..

We see our mum bed ridden and weak looking as ever but her eyes as big as stars upon seeing her daughter after 15 years and myself after over 40 some odd years.. and for the 1st time ever sees my son age 15.

Silence sets in over her bed side.. then tears as I have never seen or felt in this kind of a situation..

It was truly exciting, scary , happy , sad all mixed like a cocktail. in one.

Doctor stops in even though it was his day off to see mum and us and takes us through the entire medical history from beginning till now.

I having to translate to my sister as she dont speak finnish except a couple of words.. soooooo

then we (Both) find out from who this statement was that we were not wished or welcome to come and see mum.. sorry to say but it was our mums sisters or our Aunts to say the least..

There was no information in the computer when I asked the doctor to show us the files as mum having immediate family or children which was all hidden by our Aunts and their cruel thoughts.. :x :x

The doctor stated that he will install all of our names and information for contact immediately and the social worker will call us both on Monday.

Relatives already hounding mum for her belongings and whatever else possible..

Im glad to say that here in Finland there are Laws for this and are very strict .. and immediate family are 1st then come relatives if no children or spouse living.. :) :D

Now they had somehow made mum sign a statement that our Aunts are the immediate caretakers and family... her not being in full understanding we changed it immediately and will ask the courts to name a Neutral Guardian to help mum with her matters and things..

and this person is provided by Law and cannot take sides.. but mums belongings and things will not be taken as she is living.. not having passed away..

Dirty And Filthy hounds these people can be ..to do such..

So now the proper authorities will go to her apartment to see that nothing has been removed and if it has happened its called theft and whatever comes along.

2 seperate times.. 1st my sister asks mum if she is happy to see us all.. mums reply was Of Course My Crazy Children...

I asked the same and again the same reply ... as did the Doctor after inquiring .. again the same reply..

So the conclusion is Mum never had wished these things upon us but our Aunts did say so....

So thats all I have for now to share..

I came home and hugged my wife and sons and said .. History will never repeat itself ... Never... and I love you all very much..

My sister is with mum at present as she has 10 days in all and then back to Australia.. with the possiblity of never seeing mum again..

Such is the ending of this meeting of and with family...

A happy and good ending but also a sad one not knowing if mum will ever come home again..

but to see her together with my sister was more than what I can say in words..

Thank You All for letting me share this true story with you.

Some may ask as to why I did tell about it and others as I have seen joined in and Im thankful.. miexd emotions and feelings but all in all ..

Family is important.. no matter how far they may be.. a bond in the family is still hidden even though contact isnt..

I never thought that mum , my sister and I could be or have a bond as it seemed to be regardless of distance and time..

I just dont have the words to explain the feeling at present.. but I did meet my mum and sister.. as well did my son.. regardless of relatives opinions and wrongful thinking and doings...

And the Hospital Personnel said they havent seen mum be in better spirits than what she was today .. and having my sister stay there this week will help possibly and I,ll go again on Friday...being I live so far away..

too bad we have missed out on a lot.. and somehow its too late but again then Im glad this happened before it really was too late..Life and its travels are strange..

So what do you say to this now my friends...

Ohh Im building this tear to the very end.. ;)

Wishing you all our very best.. and thank you for sharing this with us and for you being a part of this happening in our life..

Sounds like you made a lot of progress, but it kind of makes a fella happy and really sad...all at once. At least you now know the truth, or at least part of it. Best wishes...Juneaudave

Heikki My Friend,

I am not ashamed to say that as I sat here reading this I had tears running down my cheeks. I am so happy for you and the way it turned out. There are those that will say that prayer doesn't work, but I have seen it do so several times recently in my own life and now in yours.

I can say no more, other than I am extremely happy with the outcome and I hope you are as well. May God bless you and your family and may your reunification with your mom, brother and sister continue without any more interruptions from the rest of her family.

Your friend,
Uncle M ( Mike )

I came home with my son and thought looking at him with a smile thinking Im glad I have you by me and that you finally met your real Grandma regardless..

At least we have a part of this puzzle together even though we,ll never know what happened but to remember that we wont let it happen again.

Yes Happy and Sad all at the same time.. but the comfort and peace is there more than when I started this thread..

Thank You Dave..

Your friend,

Im not ashamed to say either that as Im writing this I have had and still have tears running down my eyes.. but at the same time I feel better that we made the trip and my son also shared that closeness of his grandmother and seeing his Aunt from Australia..

And finding out the truth who tried to prevent us from seeing our mom..

Doctor and Nurse telling us the truth and us finding out the medical history of what is, what was and what is to be expected.. and a relief to find out they will be in touch with us 1st regardless of the news and events with or about mom..

So ... I cant say anything more but your advice and thoughts were with me the entire time and I can say that it sure helped... so Im very thankful.. Just goes to show what this Forum is also about and its people here..

Thank You

And Yes I believe that Prayers do have their own magic..

Heikki, I didn't find this thread until it was already 2 pages long. I was pretty much at a loss for words, anything I could think of had already been said. I am so glad that it working out for you.

As far as your aunts, unfortunately it is quite common for the "vultures to circle" when someone is very ill. A friend of mine and I were exchanging stories, his relatives were stripping his grandmother's house bare before the will was read. I was lucky, I was appointed the executor for my mother-in-law's estate. She had been ill for a long time so she had most of her estate planned and thought out. We had a few wrinkles but we worked them out.

Good luck, the material posessions probably are nothing compared to getting to see your mother and sister.

Nice to hear from you... I guess I took on a new word that you mentioned..executor will be assigned tomorrow.. and yes I agree that here also the Vultures are already circing the skies..

As far as mom having anything of that much value.. no.. except for a few pieces of furniture and a small pension from Australia..

I just cant understand it.. fighting over belongings before a person has passed on..I find it disgusting as can be..

My sister and I are going to shoot the Vultures before they attack..tomorrow..

Its like robbing a house while someones not at home or being at home.. its basically the same in my eyes..

But yes it did turn out in a fairly nice way so Im satisfied in that respect.
Apparently mom had mentioed to the Nurse hat she does have 3 kids.. 1 in Finland and 2 in Australia and the nurse had no intention of believing this because of her memory loss and imagining of certain things.

But we set that straight Sunday.. and Monday we,ll get things legally done.
So the Vultures dont attack again..

Moms earthly posessions mean absolutely nothing to us as you say... its true but being able to meet her and seeing her is somthing that is worth its weight in gold..

Not that it is important but as you know I can be a curious Finn..

Dont be shy to admit it... as we say ... there is only 2 kinds of people in this world.. The Finns and those that wish they were... :rofl2:

Apologies folks I just couldnt help myself on that one.. After what I have experienced lately Im lucky to be able to throw a humerous line in on the subject..

In our hearts it makes no difference what Nationality a person is..
