What's the story behind your forum name? Version 2

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Postby Dark Horse » Sat Feb 02, 2008 2:58 am

it was dropped on me by a Sys Admin, after I surprised them. I no longer remember exactly why or how, but it stuck. It then became my Sys Op tag, Now I use it as a Forum name.

'Gaelen' was the screen name I chose when I first joined AOL in '91. Used the same name on Prodigy and C-serve. When I created my yahoo! account, I used gaelen2 so that I could separate the emails in my email retrieval program (ah, the days of 5 hours a month of free online minutes--logging in, dowloading emails and new messages to listservs and logging off as fast as possible to read/answer offline and minimize online connect time....)

I only ever use a variation of my given name or something that can be traced back to my name/location on specific, members-only forums.

I might have answered this in the earlier thread but who goes back and reads old threads, so. Brwbier, one weekend my son came home from collage and said "Dad, we should brew some beer". I said OK, sounds like a good idea, that was 14 years ago. Now it's my screen name and my license plate. The spelling of bier is from my 14 months stationed in Germany.

Mark is the name I go by. For some reason everyone in my family go by their middle name. I have a 76 MG Midget that I restored about 9 years ago. Everyone knows that car as Marks MG.

Laredo's just where I'd rather be than Lubbock.

Folks've heard of Laredo, and very few mispronounce it.

Chris Cagle sang a wonderful song about it, too.

And there's that old '60s Western about the Rangers, with the cool theme song:

Dude, you are up there! You probably think of us Duluthians as "Southerners!"
