Same in FL and NC ! I wonder if they will ease up on the rules for scooters in light of the gas situation.??

Mike

The link to the Dax site that apratt supplied is a good place to start . An eBay search of "bicycle motor" will introduce you to other dealers . Dax has a good name on the motorbicycle forum I belong to . I bought my motors from a discounter in Montreal . .... D.J.

Why would you even consider such a thing? Enforcing the "rules" is the ONLY thing that they do. If you take away that job function then there is no reason for the job.

 Yeah, Dax is a LOT better at motors than he is at web design. I bought my motor from him. He has a very good reputation for treating customers right. I haven't installed mine yet. We will see how it goes.

Another site to check out is http://www.motoredbikes.com It is where I learned about Dax. I am also told that GEBE (Golden Eagle Bicycle Engines) is a good outfit to deal with.

Happy cruising!

After looking at scooters, I came across a 2008 Honda 230L dual sport bike just like the old days when Honda made XL75 and XL175 dual use bikes. I can ride it and get 78 miles to the gallon or pack in my pick up for some dirt riding. Haven't bought one yet but looking.

I found out another good thing about scooters....They are really easy to push!
They go a long way on a gallon of gas...but not far without any.
:x
I hadn't paid much attention to how much the tank held and I ran out of gas the first week I had mine. Luckily I was right across the street from a couple of gas stations!

The good thing about doing that the first week is you probably won't let it happen again...
I was too paranoid with my first scooter to run out of gas. Every time I rode it I refilled it with gas. The good news there was it was always full. I rode it to work everyday until the afternoon I was on my way home and got T-boned by a Hemi truck. Trashed the scooter, but I walked (hobbled) away (after a demonstration of free-style pavement diving.) :O
So, I waited to move here to NC to buy the latest one. 8)

Most of the scooters have a reserve gas. It is controled by the petcock. You are only suspose to turn the petcock half way, it will go quite a ways then if it run out of gas you then turn the petcock all the way and you get another 20 to 30 miles of range to get to a gas station.

Took a bunch of parts of the Passport today, and took my polisher to the paint. It looks better, now -- for a 27-year-old bike.

I also put a new seat cover on.

As soon as the back tire arrives, I'll put two new tires and tubes on, and should be ready to roll further than my neighborhood.
