Man, if I'm HOA president, and the pirates want to paint their house lime green, I guarantee that would be the end of HOA piracy in this century. 8)

We have one lady, as I'm sure every neighborhood does, that has yard-art for EVERY holiday known to man. Most of it is pretty tacky, but she takes it down on time after each holiday, so she isn't breaking the rules.

We just grin and bear it.

No need for a lot of fanfare.Just take along a couple Navy Seals and let them have a hand auger or two. It's pretty hard to pirate someone when your boats a sinking.

Back in WWII didn't they have merchant ships travel in convoys escorted by destroyers? Run the same thing in this area, it is known to be a bottle neck and the cheapest route for goods from asia and the middle east to get to and from europe and the eastern seaboard. For protection instead of large slower ships, or to augment the cruiser types use smaller fast boats. something along the lines of PT boats used in the pacific. Equip them with lots of horse power like the smugglers use to run drugs and mount 50 cal. guns on them. Using radar and aircraft to monitor the area, send out the little killer boats and just board the suspect craft. If it resists or runs blow it out of the water. Pretty soon no more pirates, problem solved. If they know that every time they go out looking for a target they will become a target they will look for a new occupation. those that don't learn fast become prisoners or fish food either way problem solved. Back in the old days Teddy Rosevelt would have sent in the Mo. or another battle ship and just blasted everything up and down the shore where they harbor. Not going to be a popular solution with the PC crowd ( you can't kill all those poor pirates they have to make a living too. LOL ) But then Im not very PC anyway and belive we and all other countries have not only the right but responsibility to protect the shipping lanes to insure the saftey of our merchant marines and thier cargo. We pay the price for letting this persist both in terms of money and prestige. We ( the civilized world ) are being laughed at and made fools by these pirates and by the terrorist that continue to taunt us knowing we will do little to them for fear of how the rest of the world will think of us. Just my 2 cents take it for what it's worth. Ok stepping off my soap box (need that cause I'm to short to reach the mic.) Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

This a real simple and cheap problem to fix,,,, First place an add in local southern newspapers advertising hunting cruises,,, lay in a bunch of PBR beer, slim JIM's and burgers and such,,, BYOB (bring ya own bullets) and tell the hunters they are going after a bunch of NASCAR haters that are partially responsible for the death of Dale Earnhardt,,,,,, There wont be a single boarding  plus they throw in taxidermy cost and you would have to turn away the excess applicants,,, just woundering what kind of camo I would wear onna ship

Should work fine..... at least in pirate waters. Just gotta work out how to stop the guys shooting when they aren't pirates.

 What you really have to do is get rid of the folks on land who hire the pirates. We have been trying to pay them off for a couple of hundred years. Clearly it isn't working.

Chip, with reference to which camo: you could try the old dazzle pattern. Someone once described it as, "the best camouflage I've ever seen".

But for me, you just can't go wrong with haze gray.

Postby Alfred » Fri Feb 05, 2010 9:21 pm

OK Gang, here's one with a happy ending, except perhaps for the pirate who apparently jumped overboard when he saw the helicopter and the special forces coming, poor old soul, he has not been found....Go Danish Special Forces...!

NAIROBI, Kenya – Danish special forces disrupted the takeover by pirates of a cargo ship in the Gulf of Aden on Friday, in a maneuver rarely undertaken by NATO warships, a naval spokesman said.
