Second Century in one week.

Image
This one wasn't easier than the first but the average speed was the same. Slightly different route but still mostly on the American River Parkway. 18 miles to get there, 60+ miles on the trail and return. Headwinds everywhere, no relief and I'll put the aero-bars back on the bike. What was interesting, I ate less, took a few breaks to stretch and mentally was much better throughout the ride. Burned 2787 calories and consumed about 1500. Showered, fell into bed at 6:30 woke up 11 hours later

We had a club ride today.. I think we had 25 people.. which is pretty good considering the weather. We had no sun.. temps in the low 30's and lots of wind. We only rode 18 miles.. I was hoping for 30 to 40.

We had dressed better than yesterday so felt pretty good. Expecting that the ride would not be enough.. and with some rain coming.. I brought my kettlebell and did some work with it after.

No regimented exercise for me today, but spent time removing the van's faulty EGR valve, then fabbing up a block off plate, followed by a thirty minute walk to the auto parts place to get washers to use as spacers when the bolts were too long.
All in all felt like a workout, and I must get something better than a die grinder with a cutoff wheel for cutting steel that thick
Jeanne did one ten min ride

Tested resistance progress, and this time my supine pullups didn't go up by much, but my pushups increased by half again! Yahoo!
Did my first twenty five on th eliptical, and wasn't bad, never went below 13 for speed.
Jeanne did two ten min rides, plus some house work

another very rainy windy day here.. inches of rain.. half the state is on flood warning..

So we ride inside.. spin classs..I really pushed it today.. often turning the resistance harder than what the instructor was asking for. I set the alarm on my pulse monitor off a couple of times... :D

Yesterday I could not get on here, server not found, I believe th message said.
I did 30 mins straight on the eliptical, never dipping below 13.
Jeanne did two ten min rides

Today twenty five mins, and I mostly stayed in the high 13's, with only a few dips to 13.2 and 13.4, which tonight, were recovery speeds.
Maybe becuas I didn't work today
Also started three sets of all resistance work.
Jeanne did one 15 min ride, and one ten.

We were able to squeeze in a little over 26 miles in after work.

we had a 20.4 average at over 20 miles.. we backed off towards the end. We had a new [to our group] person.. and he was having a hard time by then.. and as it was we had to stop and wait on the last hill.. we still finished at 19.7... :D

2 mile run tonight after work, and after I finally got my Garmin Forerunner 305 working. It needed a reset to start up for some reason.

We did a short 11 mile ride on Tuesday and the ride against the 30 mph wind gusts at the end was a killer for my wife. I never like them, but she is just starting out riding on the highway with me.

Sorry to hear that. At least you can ride.

Fenlason do you remember my post about the Deer Corn fiasco, where I about injured myself packing two fifty pound bags across the parking lot at work, back before I started working out?
Pulled the same stunt today, to see how my training is translating to real world usable fitness.
No problem. Don't know if I could have done it all day, but I sure could have done it a number of times.
Every once in a while I like to get a reminder of the real world benefits of what I'm doing.
Tonight thirty minute elliptical
Jeanne did not work out tonight. This is the first day off she's taken since we started with the eliptibike (what I call it)
riding it has always caused her pain in the inner thigh, and I though it was just DOMS from her being so detrained. (my legs are a bit sore in the thighs after a higher speed day, and she does push it a bit) Hopefully she isn't looking for a reason to quit. (this is the longest she has ever stuck with any form of exercise)

We have talked about a tandem, but she is still not sold on the idea. She would really like it if I was the only one pedalling. I think if we went tandem it would have to be a bent trike tandem.

A Greenspeed tandem recumbent trike has been on our list. We have friends
that are out of state that have one. We got to ride it last fall.. it was sweet.
