Really?

Do you want to start on me again, Jay?

What world do you live in? What age do you think most kids start experimenting with sex nowadays? What do you YOURSELF find funny?

I guess as long as it doesn't involve subjects like your daughters, it's okay then. But everything ELSE is funny, as long as it ain't your daughters.

But if you DON'T find something funny, does that mean someone is "sick" and needs help?

Get off your high horse. No one cares. It's just a joke, and your commentary is irrelevant:

If you don't like the humor, that's fine. But the NERVE of you to critique it.

I'm still waiting for you to say something even REMOTELY humorous!!! Or maybe humor isn't part of your universe.

Let me guess--Mormon???

Hey Ira, Just a suggestion from one Downunder-- Be very careful when it comes to others commenting on your new venture. I would suggest that this magazine will be very contentious in some peoples eyes.

We do not all have the humour gene in our systems 8)

Dear Jay,

You might have missed the part of the forum with the rules. Just to make it an easy reminder here ya go. And Jay don't forget, we teardroppers are a caring, loving, happy bunch of folks that like to have fun. But not with 12 year olds.

Here's the rules of the forum... pretty simple actually...

Rule Number 1: No fighting...

That's it. You fight, we pull the thread, you keep fighting we pull you.

Very important... discussions about sex, politics and religion, and certain bad jokes can lead to fighting. We would suggest that you refrain from the afforementioned... as they will be carefully monitored, and pulled as they turn into fighting.

These rules are not restrictive... this forum is meant to be fun. With your help, it can be!

Thanks for helping.

Mike...

Jay, My suggestion to you is to get off your high horse and get into the real world. It happens and some people cope by making fun of it. If we all took the same stance on any issues it would be a boring world that we live in.

Cheers

Hey Guys...
Great for Ira and free speech...

Hope he has success...

However, I side with Jay...

Having two daughters...I am a bit sensitive to the subject matter...

That is a freight train that we can't stop...but I will try to slow it down until my daughters are quite a bit older...

But...that is just my $.02 worth.

Point of clarification here. I have two adult daughters, 2 grandaughters and a grandson. God forbid that anything like this happens to any of them, but that does not stop the world we live in.
Some cultures do actually condone this sort of behaviour but ours is not one of them.
I, personally, would happily remove anyone that harmed my kids in this way but that would not cure the problem, would it?
By sticking your head in the sand and stopping people from making others aware is a greater problem, as far as I'm concerned.

Boy I go out for the night ---
Ira correct me if I remember wrong here. Wasn't your paper intending to poke a sharp stick at what was wrong with Coral Springs using humor?

I get why so many are upset at the subject but I thought that is exactly the point Ira was making. Yes I would still barf at reading sloppy sex between kids. But the goal seems to be met here already.

Those of you who are so upset may not have followed the paper story from the begining. Ira wasn't just getting off on writing kiddy porn. He was trying to make a point.

Be informed first.

OK, just for the record, this IS a blatant hijack, but is somewhat relevant to the topic at hand. If this thread still exists, that is.

Now, about that statement that the legal age in Florida being 12. Where did that come from?

The legal age of consent in Florida is 18 for that person to engage in sexual acts with an adult agd 24 or older. But, a 16 or 17 year old can legally engage in sexual acts with a person age 16 to 23. Now figure out the logic of that.

A person 16 or 17 can be married in Florida with parentl consent. If a 16 year old marries a person 24 or older (with parental consent, of course), then the restriction above is null and void, and the sex is legal.

Think Florida is bad?

In Delaware, the restriction on 16 year olds is that the partner can't be over 30.

In Hawaii, a 14 or 15 year old can legally have sex with anyone not more than 5 years older.

In Indiana, a 16 year old can have sex with an adult (apparently no age limit) unless the adult is in a supervisory positon over that minor (Huh???)

In Massachusetts, If a minor 16 or 17 years of age is a virgin, sex is illegal (Chapter 272: Section 4. Inducing person under 18 to have sexual intercourse). Now, there's a catch 22 for ya. How does one get to be a non-virgin without having sex? I guess by having sex before age 16...Duhhhhhh.

In Montana, New Hampshire, West Virginia and Nevada, sex between heterosexuals is legal at 16, but The homosexual age of sexual consent is higher at 18.

In New Mexico, sex between heterosexuals is legal at 17, but The homosexual age of sexual consent is lower...age 13 is legal.

In South Carolina, the legal age is 16. But, a person 18 or younger can legally have sex with a person as young as 14.

In Utah, the legal age is 18, but, may be lower at 16 as long as it does not involve force? Does that mean that you can legally force an 18 year old???

In Washington (state), the legal age is 16. (BUT) It is illegal for any school employee to have consensual sexual contact with a student between age 16 and high school graduation, so age 16 does not apply to school employees.

There, you've all been enlightened. :?

:o Thank you Dale. Not sure at the moment where I heard that. Think it was the TV. When I was growing up in Miami that is what we thought. We had good reason to think it since so many 12 year olds were having sex and thier parents had no recourse. Not to boys always either.

My sisters friend even got married at 13 so the laws didn't mean a whole lot.

Where did you get the information?

Dale,

I just gotta be the one to ask. How is it you know all that? I don't know the age of consent here in CT. I guess it is just one of those things I don't have to worry about. Kids just don't turn me on, so laws like that have no consequence for me. I've got to admit, your post was enlightening......

Look...

I'm sorry if I really snapped at anyone here, but this was a good experience for me to go through in preparation for my pub's release.

I guess the main point is, I shouldn't and simply CAN'T care if someone doesn't get the humor. We all have different senses of humor and different things we care about:

But the majority of these attitudes is based on pure hypocrisy:

"Yeah, THAT'S funny, but this ISN'T funny because I have two young daughters and you've offended me!"

I wasn't trying to make a moral commentary or pontificate one way or the other. That one sentence summed up the attitudes of THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF YOUNG KIDS--whether you, me or we like it or not.

And damned if I'm going to find myself in a position trying to defend one sentence, one thought, one JOKE!

Aside from me maybe getting a little testy, nasty--which IS a reason for an admin to pull something--I think they played this right by letting the thread play out.

So if anyone is offended by this type of material, please don't read my "Blind For a Day" article coming soon.

At the risk of sounding like a hypocrite….. (this comment is not specifically targeted at Ira’s publication)

Recently, a local sport announcer here in the SF Bay area was let go because of certain remarks. Specifically, he stated in a sports talk “opinion” show, that he was tired of “Caribbean ball players hacking at slop”. The local manager, a Dominican, was not pleased with what he heard. Since the radio station was the flagship broadcaster of this team. They of course promptly fired him for his insensitivity even though he had apologized.

So, given that, how come it is OK to exercise our “free speech”, in a morning zoo mentality, which feeds at the trough of the lowest common denominator in search of the almighty dollar, to broach just about any subject we deem fit in the name of “humor”?

When does our right to free speech usurp our responsibility to be that “village that raises our children” as one of our preeminent politicians wrote? Must we consistently push the limits of borderline humor just to see who gets a rise out of it?

If that’s they way is gonna be then, I say, hell’s bells, screw the v-chip, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead – do what ever you want. Let’s give the kids crack for breakfast and porn for recess. After all, it’s what all the other kids are doing and they’re not even wearing a helmet. Oops, I forgot, it’s already happening and all the kid’s are doing it on Youtube. Oh well, better buy that Google stock…..
