Exercise Anyone?????????????

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Saturday night after the ride.. I felt great... like I could get back on the bike and never stop.
Sunday I was pretty tired... and I am sure pretty dehydrated. We had work to do here.. but had hoped to do something.. perhaps another run... but did not get in any exercise.

Tonight... Greg and Judy on their tandem, and Laurie and I on ours. We were all pretty tired. We chose a loop that would have options. Part way out we all felt somewhat better.. and extended our loop.

We cranked a few sections.. but at other places took it easy.

I did one of my more painful downhills tonight. It is a great road.. we stop at a T intersection at the top of a hill. Turning right it goes downhill and then rolls up and down... and is slightly twisty. It is fun to fly down it. Our first little rise we topped at 39.. the second at 42... Greg took over pulling for a while.. so I stopped looking a the computor for a bit. I was not sufficiently to hit my max pulse comfortably.. or actually at all... I was at 150... and it felt like I was going to explode...

We pushed each other on another downhill and I was able to get into the upper 160's... it hurt.. but not as bad as the 150.

later on in the ride there is a huge downhill. I have not been done it that many times.. and have not dared to let it roll. There are some turns... and places where visibility is not great. Greg let it go.. and hit over 58.. I held back at 55.7. Towards the bottom there is a sweeper to the left.. I moved toward the inside to feel more comfortable.. and then a pickup appears in front of me.. :frightened: I was able to get back into my lane uneventfully. This hill has 60 in it.. although I am not sure It is the safest place to do it.

There is one of the roads back to home that I love to hammer.. from the turn it is 8 miles.. and is up and down.

I reset the computor so I could accurately record.. just this section. We did it at 24 ave. :D

overall 33+ miles..with a 19.1 ave.

Resistance tonight, and Jeanne joined in sort of tentatively.
Lowering deadlift to 70 got me where I want to be, one set of 15 and one of 16. Good for now.

I was feeling really tired again today.. we have had a lot going on.. and exercise wise I might have increased a little to much this past week or so.

We did ride tonight, but only did 25 miles tonight.. and took it relatively easy ... most of the time.. 8)

I have not been 'feeling' the bike lately, no realy wanting to ride, so tonight I did 50 minutes walking / running.
To make up for the lower aerobic effect of the walking, I ran more, 110 out of every 440, at my current 'natural' pace.
Jeanne's back is hurting tonight, so she didn't exercise.

I skipped doing anything Wed. We have had a lot of "stuff" going on.. stresses.. combined with our workouts. I was becoming trashed.. exhausted.

So as I said a mostly easy ride Tuesday. Nothing Wed.

We had forecasted severe thunderstorms yesterday, so we baled on riding. We did go out for another run. I did some minor core work, kettle bell work and indo board riding also.

We did a mountain bike ride this morning. It was of moderate intensity. There is one climb we did that causes a pretty maximal pulse rate, just to get up it... period.. not fast or anything.. just to make it. It is also fairly technical.

We had plans to do a long ride with a friend today. His wife's plans changed so his did also. So instead of a longer faster it was going to be shorter and slower... or we could go by ourselves... which was the option we chose.

I had thought about doing the upper part of our old century loop. We used to ride it every Sunday with another friend.

We just headed up easy.. and hoped we would feel ok once warmed up. I was not after any particular speed, but I guess I had thought.. and 18 ave. might be nice.

Not long into it we had a 19.1 ave.

The last 20 miles back from Pittsfield can be pretty fast. I was unsure of some of the pavement.. I know the very end was not great, and we had planned a way around that. The traffic on a Sunday afternoon might have been so so also. Not bad at all, it is just we have since learned of another way back. It is fairly flat.. rolly.. not much traffic.. heck even places with no power lines and not houses. The problem, it dumps us back in Unity.. 16 miles from home.. instead of in Benton about 3 miles from home. It also leaves us with some of the worst hills of the loop to get over.

Once we had a decent ave.. I was hoping to keep a pretty good one to Unity.. and then just worry about getting home at any speed after that.

My wife seemed to be having a hard time eating and drinking enough..and the wind had kicked up a bit, so it was a struggle to maintain our ave.. vs continuing to build it. We got to Unity at mile 58.. with a 20.2 ave.

I then rode easy for the 8 miles.. to Albion. At Albion our ave was at 19.5.. I was hoping to hold that the rest of the way to home. and we ended up at a 19.6.

a fairly easy day.. It is rainy.. and all my riding partners bailed.. I did lots of stretching and foam rolling and some kettle bell work.

Having a rough time shaking off this bug and hurling lung gunk is wearing me down. Today I thought I was getting better and my bod went weird. Light head, heavy shoulders and very sleepy, must be age cause its nap time. Getting a few rides in but just motoring along averaging 13. Bike is fixed and just hearing the chain move instead of wheel squeak is a pleasure.

Finally got fed up with the Garmin and returned the GPS and switched to a Sigma ROX 9. All the ride data without the GPS and the route overlay. The software is not the easiest to maneuver through but after a few clicks you get it. No thoughts on returning it. Got a few rides in and its interesting seeing HR zones. Unable to get into zone three (above 150) but can motor in zone two forever.

I don't really remember what it said now.. but I don't remember anything negative.

You do run into all kinds out there. I am not really fond of getting used badly.. but my only real problem is those that endanger me. [or others]

The guy I was talking of.. [offering to pull then getting dropped] I have no problems.. I am just sort of surprised he did not know himself better... he does not seem like a newby.. anyways.. no skin off my nose..

So how are you feeling?

Finally, I'm getting back to normal. Being able to ride comfortably and push is wonderful. Did 30 Sunday, averaged 15.5 and rolled back the last two mile to cruise with my buds. The Sigma Rox 9 rocks and I use it rolling a 16 mile flat loop working a few intervals. Starting to exert enough to get into zone 3 and see my average cadence is climbing.

Hugs & kisses to my LBS, changed pedals and nothing but crosswind spoke hum, cyclic chain and smooth as a baby's bottom

Yesterdays ride.. Leanne posted an 80 miler. On a Friday we had 9 people..

As I do on Tuesday nights.. I was hoping to get some more miles.. by looping back to the slow people. I had semi contemplated that we might be able to get a century in. Getting an extra 20 out of 80.. would be hard enough.. but her mapped ride.. ended up at only 72.. so an extra 28.. out of 72 mile ride.. did not sound as easy.

We have also only done a few rides above the 50 something miles.. so I thought perhaps somewhere in the 80's.. we might think otherwise.

I started off not feeling so good, having to go to the bathroom repeatedly before the ride.. and not far into it.. vomiting again. That is not the best way to start a century. The first half was really hilly.. and into a decent headwind.. I felt like crap.. and slow.

It was maybe 40 or so miles into before I felt good at all. Although we did still turn some for our slower riders.

Our "halfway" point was at mile 38 for them.. and just over 48 for us. I don't remember the exact tenths.. but it was somewhere around 18.5 ave.. which shocked me.. that it was that "fast".

I was actually feeling better then, than at the start. We continued looping back for people. We turned right on the road just before the others would be turning right.. putting us over Beech Hill.. a pretty decent 3 mile climb. This road dumped us onto the road they would be taking.. so I turned left.. back to meet them... again riding to the last person... and turning back around.

We would have ended up with 91 miles at the end.. but did an out and back on a side road.. to get the final 9. We were able to crank it surpisingly well... increasing our average .3.. not a huge.. but after 90... it is hard to change your ave. much at all. We were tired.. and sore.. needing to get off the seats.. my neck was a little sore. [I had also just lowered my handlebars. 3/8's of an inch... and the foot I had broken was hurtinga bit... but I think I felt better.. then we had at mile 15..
