Buffet I made to match the rest of our furniture.
We really like the quilted Maple on the drawer fronts and toe.

My son and I launched the kayaks we built over the winter.
He'said 12, and it took him about 21 hours.

He loves having a full sized kayak that he can paddle and carry himself.

I took the sawfish kayak design and made it a 16 foot tandem kayak, this is the first one.

It is very stable and able to carry my wife and I, along with our 6 yr old.
She rides inside the aft cargo hatch, or climbs around on the aft deck and kicks her feet in the water.

Here are a few projects I have made, starting with the most recent and working backwards.

This is a vest I did for my girlfriend to wear to San Japan (anime convention here in San Antonio). It is from a character in Final Fantasy 15.

This is a stability-assist service dog harness I made for a friend:

This is the mudflap I made for my sidecar:

A WWII-styled tanker holster I made as a Christmas gift for a friend's father.

And lastly for now, a belt and belt pouch I made for a friend for the Renaissance festival.

Found some easy videos and made one. I like it more than I thought I would. Since it’s just 2x4s and steel rod it’s now a project for the shop students. Accurate measurements to drill and cut by are what determine how easy assembly is. So it should be a good test for them.
Some day I will figure out something to put here. But for now....

Sure, you can buy electric Coleman lanterns, but not with patina like this.
I folded the tabs on the sockets up so I could screw them on to the cut down mantle tubes. Ran wires up inside the fount, and put a pull switch in the pump opening.
Just need to source a battery that’ll fit in the base, and I’m done.ImageImageImage

I made this segmented urn for ashes.
Woods used are American Walnut, Sapele, and Honduran Mahogany.
It took a 1" x 6" x 96" piece of Walnut just to make up the rings that are Walnut, lots of work on the bench and the lathe.
The finish is pre catalyzed, semi gloss lacquer.

We moved to our retirement mini-farm in the mountains 3 years ago, and I no longer had a wood shop.

There is a 32x32 tobacco barn and figured I wouldn't need near that much space for storing stuff, so in the fall of 2015 I started building my shop inside the barn. It is basically a freestanding 16 x 24 room inside the barn with only decking on top. The going is slow because I'm building it by myself, and paying for materials as I go so I don't have any debt.

I wired the shop last spring for a 60A service, but temporarily fed it with a 12 awg romex cable until I could finish installing mobile home feeder cable in buried conduit. The barn is about 250' from the house, and there is so much voltage drop that it is tedious just ripping a 2x4 on my table saw.

But in spite of this limitation, I managed to make this Black Walnut bar for my Sister's cabin this past summer. This was 2 2" thick slabs of black walnut with bark edges. I used a circular saw to rip one edge of each slab, then did a lot of hand planing to take out some twist and bow. I was then able to get a decent jointed edge on each before joining with a biscuit joiner. Final width is ~18" with 2 live edges. The finish is 8 coats of waterlox tung oil varnish.

Just yesterday I finally finished the 60a feed. It was nice to hear the table saw spin up so quickly. I've still got some insulation and sheet rock to put up, but then the shop will be finished and I look forward to many more projects.
It's 5 o'clock somewhere ... time for a
