We moved to our retirement mini-farm in the mountains 3 years ago, and I no longer had a wood shop.
There is a 32x32 tobacco barn and figured I wouldn't need near that much space for storing stuff, so in the fall of 2015 I started building my shop inside the barn. It is basically a freestanding 16 x 24 room inside the barn with only decking on top. The going is slow because I'm building it by myself, and paying for materials as I go so I don't have any debt.
I wired the shop last spring for a 60A service, but temporarily fed it with a 12 awg romex cable until I could finish installing mobile home feeder cable in buried conduit. The barn is about 250' from the house, and there is so much voltage drop that it is tedious just ripping a 2x4 on my table saw.
But in spite of this limitation, I managed to make this Black Walnut bar for my Sister's cabin this past summer. This was 2 2" thick slabs of black walnut with bark edges. I used a circular saw to rip one edge of each slab, then did a lot of hand planing to take out some twist and bow. I was then able to get a decent jointed edge on each before joining with a biscuit joiner. Final width is ~18" with 2 live edges. The finish is 8 coats of waterlox tung oil varnish.

Just yesterday I finally finished the 60a feed. It was nice to hear the table saw spin up so quickly. I've still got some insulation and sheet rock to put up, but then the shop will be finished and I look forward to many more projects.
