need info on old mobile homes

Postby Ron » Wed Jul 19, 2006 8:49 am

My brother bought a farm that has an old (mid 50's) mobile home on it. The woodwork inside is very nice and they would like to restore it. I'm hoping to find some info on this mobile home for him. It is a Hicks Mobile Home built in Texas
I've searched but cant find anything on this.
Does anyone have any info on web sites or a source of info I can locate?

Thanks,
Ron

The people at the RV Museum are real friendly and have drawers full of info and a complete collection of all the early RV journals. They may be able to help you over the phone.

Is this what you are looking for? It's from the site that Rickxr2 posted.

Rickxr2, robfisher, Gage,

Thanks so much for the links. I'll try and contact them to see if I can find out more. The picture of the Hicks trailer on that website looks a little larger than the one my brother has but it is in the same time frame. I looked in my brothers trailer once and it reminded me of the old Airstream trailers because it had such nice woodwork inside, well worth restoring.

Thanks all,
Ron

That site, http://www.allmanufacturedhomes.com/html/vintage_mobile_homes.htm is maintained by Jurgen something. He is in Germany and offers all sorts of old info on e-bay. Do a search for "trailer-dealer" in the Auto section. He will have a number of CD's with photos. Select one, it does not matter which one. When you order it, add a note that you are looking for info on the Hicks. If he has anything he will include it.
He responds very quickly considering he mails from Germany.
I was able to date my Kenskill using his information, money will spent.
