New cop in town

Postby tonyj » Fri Aug 18, 2006 12:34 pm

So with the server change, did we get a new and more law enforcing posting cop?

I've had the "You can't post again, yet . . ." display three times. I'm not doing any rapid fire postings.

So what is the new "sit patiently on your hands" period? 1, 2, 5 minutes?
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Tony, we will haveta check into that...so far I have not been hit with the traffic cop but many have posted, saying they have been...it is only supposed to be 10 seconds...

It's more. I had to wait 2 to 3 minutes. Maybe my computer was on a break.

Just tried this quickly--no cop this time.

I've only had it happen a couple times. The times when it happened I had to wait 2 or 3 mins.

I just changed the posting cop to 5 seconds... If it's still getting in the way, let me know, I'll cut the time down some more...

So tell me, why was it we needed a Posting Cop? With a posting cop, we can't chat. Oh wait a minute. This isn't a chat room.

Have a good day.

Gage, sometimes you are too funny... hmmm, I think I have a webcam pic that made you famous for that!!!

The posting cop comes standard with phpBB. It helps cut down on the spam. The default is 10 seconds, and I've never had a problem with it in the past... but since we've gone to the new server I've been stopped twice... and lost both messages I was trying to post...

So I've just dropped it down to 5 seconds... and if that doesn't work, I'll drop it down some more...

...another oddity that has cropped up since the update are posts appearing out of order...when answering a post, sometime the subsequent post appears before the original post...it has happened twice to me and I noticed it happened to Julie welcoming a newbie...strange metaphysical stuff...once again.......

Those were some interesting days. Where else could you be on TV, chat and build a teardrop at the same time. And if I might add, flirt with the gal across the street wearing the bikini.

He must be a private eye type. I've never seen him. Maybe because, being on Teardrop Time all the time I'm never in a hurry to post.

Have a good day.

It's happened to me a few times, thought I just wasn't paying attention the first few times...
I'm thinking that those with mega fast speed of light connections are getting through faster than the few of us 'poe foke' still on copper wire phone line 'connekshuns'.
