Will History Repeat Itself On The Teardrop?... (Heavy)

Postby Dean in Eureka, CA » Thu Sep 14, 2006 11:58 am

WWII interupted the teardrop movement the first time...
Will WWIII interupt the resurgence of it again?
I couldn't help but sit and watch all the stuff that was on the other day, during the 5 year observation of 9-11.
I found myself getting all worked up again, but with more reslove, because the emotional shock wasn't there this time, having five years to grasp the reality of it all.
Looking at what has happened since that day and wondering what's going to happen next... Especially with Iran, it seems to me that WWIII has already begun.

WWIII has indeed begun, but it won't interupt the resurgence of the teardrop - or anything else, it seems. The big difference? America went to war in WWII. Everyone was involved - scrap drives, food & gas rationing, victory gardens, etc. There was a general shortage of materials and gas that precluded building teardrops and going camping.

But America is not at war in WWIII - only our armed forces are. The rest of America remains sheltered and protected, many of us with our heads safely ensconced in the sand.

Which explains a lot.

as Joseph puts so well, only a portion of our armed forces are at war and very little of anyone else's...if the industrial might of the entire world...which is at threat from these "thuggies", it wouldn't take long to subdue them...instead we keep putting bandaids on an infection that will continue to spread until they can project their virulence outside their own limited areas....

Well,
I'm not sure if I have gritty residue in my eyeballs or not, but with what I see happening here in this great country of ours... Like major mfg. going to China for example... It seems to me that by having our armed forces "go take care of the situation" for us, it will put a strain on the safety of the sand box at some point...
Maybe I should just go stick my head in that warm cozy sand.

...and at some point it will, which is my point about a band-aid approach...historically, this same extemeism, towards the end of the first millennia exploded out of a single point in the desert and almost encompassed the entire known world...if this happened today could the rest of the world stop it or would we end up alone in resistance to it...scary thoughts you have dredged up Dean...must be why that sandbox is so appealing to many...

Jack,
You and I are only micro organisms in the whole scheme of things.
At least we have our tiny little micro organism brains and our tiny little micro organism eyes to see what's really going on...
I know... Can't get too political here, but...
Something the big boys forgot to do this time, was to build more storage facilities for all that extra oil our country now has... That's the only thing that kept oil prices from staying where they were at just a few months ago...
The situation in the Middle East didn't stop the flow, the hurricanes didn't hamper production... Guess they were too busy counting profits, to think of building extra storage tanks.

Oh Yes... Let's not forget, lower oil prices around election time is good business too...

Dean got political? I'm almost aroused.

Hey, after 5 years, this mighty army of ours can't find one dangerous asshole hiding between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Pakistan just signed a truce with the Taliban.

And we went to war in Iraq for nothing.

AND YOU EXPECT THE MAJORITY OF AMERICAN PEOPLE TO SUPPORT THIS ADMINISTRATION AND GO TO WAR WITH "THEM" BASED ON THE RECORD AND THE DECISIONS MADE!?

It's not even a Democrat-Republican thing anymore either, because this administration is SO bad that a majority of Republicans don't support this dope either.
Here we go again!

They came up with a new moniker?

Tough day for me--Ann Richards died, who I adored, and whose Bush's campaign labeled as a lesbian--as if this was a HORRIBLE thing.

Oh, I'm sorry, A lot of people DO believe that here.

Ann was indeed a good neighbor and one of the last "tell it like it is" and let the chips fall where they may, politicos in this country

Hey Ira,
About that little pact that Pakistan signed with the Taliban...
It says the Taliban can come and go as long as they live in peace.
I wonder if planning, plotting and resupply fall within the guidelines???
My little micro organism eyes are gonna be watching to see what happens next... :o

May these insignificant happenings never impede or halt the teardrop movement.
