More politics, but nice!

Okay--here's my top 5 list of ideas to bring the country's Democrats and Republicans together to find true common ground and move forward. Please post YOURS below:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a Democrat, I promise to support the building of a wall along the border with Mexico, and FINALLY enforce REAL immigration control throughout the system...

If, as a Republican, you agree to raise the minimum wage $2.50.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a Democrat, I promise to not get pissed off when I hear "God" or see a nativity scene on government property…

If, as a Republican, you condemn your elected reps for constantly referring to God at the drop of a hat, and you stop calling us Democrats "Godless."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a Democrat, I promise to support aggressive investigation of the welfare rolls to dump cheaters from the system…

If, as a Republican, you agree to aggressive investigation of corporate fraud and malfeasance.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a Democrat, I agree to a mutually agreed upon and verifiable voting system that's uniform ACROSS THE COUNTRY, so that some counties don't use paper ballots, others electronic, others pull tabs, etc., and that a backup record/paper trail should exist for all elections...

If, as a Republican, you agree to the same thing.

------------------------------------------------------------------

As a Democrat, I agree to exclusively watch Fox News from this day forward...

If, as a Republican, you admit that Ann Coulter is the biggest piece of crap that ever walked the planet.
Here we go again!

should start with something very very simple.
like how about, both sides telling the truth and sticking to it, without blowing things way out of proportion, and without missleading rhetoric.

Ira... I pretty much agree with most of your list. On the minimum wage issue; It has been proven that raising the minimum wage doesn't help poor people. Every time they do raise it, corporate America also generally have to adjust the rest of their wage earners up too. Then prices go up and within a year the poor folks on the bottom of the hourly wage spectrum have no more buying power that they did before. It is just not the best answer to the problem.

I would like to see them require restaurants to pay waitresses minimum wage... screwing them out of most of their tips sucks. I would also like to see some kind of legislation to force the big box stores to quit exploiting "part time" employees... Walmart just notified the world they are now letting their part timers (after 6 months) buy health insurance. What a joke... They are working 30 hours a week at about $6.50 an hour. That's about $150. a week after taxes.

How can they afford health insurance that costs at least that a month? Those are not nice people running that company. What would it cost them to offer ALL their employees free coverage? One half a penny of every dollar of sales would put them in the top ranks of corporations offering benefits. They lose three times that to "shrinkage".

I personally listen to all the news channels. I prefer to make my own decision based on all the information.

Ann Coulter is laughing all the way to the bank. The more :x people get the more :money: she makes. People are gonna buy the book just to see what is ticking everyone off. I bought it and plan on reading it on my flight to Montana tomorrow. Not a big fan of Coulter about the same level as Hillary Clinton in my eyes.

Would this make me a Independent?

Bipartisanship is what you are talking about here Ira:

you kiss my A**."

Get them to agree to that and half the battle will be over...

You know me - I'd much rather reply to yours. And as I’ve said, I’m not a Republican, but I’m willing to play one for the moment…
As a Democrat, I promise to support the building of a wall along the border with Mexico, and FINALLY enforce REAL immigration control throughout the system...
If, as a Republican, you agree to raise the minimum wage $2.50.

I’ll see your $2.50 and raise you $100. Let’s make it a REAL living wage!
As a Democrat, I promise to not get pissed off when I hear "God" or see a nativity scene on government property…
If, as a Republican, you condemn your elected reps for constantly referring to God at the drop of a hat, and you stop calling us Democrats "Godless."

Bit Ira, you ARE Godless – you yourself have said so!
As a Democrat, I promise to support aggressive investigation of the welfare rolls to dump cheaters from the system…
If, as a Republican, you agree to aggressive investigation of corporate fraud and malfeasance.

No problem. I believe it was under the current administration that the boys from Enron donned their orange jump suits…

Again, no problem.
As a Democrat, I agree to exclusively watch Fox News from this day forward...
If, as a Republican, you admit that Ann Coulter is the biggest piece of crap that ever walked the planet.

Sorry, I don’t care what you watch and I think Ann is brilliant. But then I’ve actually read what she writes…

Actually, I DO watch Fox news:

Things are so screwed up these days that even THEY have to admit it, and you do get some sensible stuff presented there now and then.

And Joseph, are you sure you don't want to edit that comment about Ann Coulter while our backs are turned?

Brilliant?

Come on--I'm giving you a pass here.

You can only edit undetected if your post hasn't been answered yet. The T&TTT Forum has a built in snitch...
Brilliant?

Brilliant.
Come on--I'm giving you a pass here.

Thanks, but I don't need one.

So tell me - which of her books have you read? Past the cover, I mean...

Joseph, I've seen the nutcase live on TV.

After seeing this walking disaster in person, who would EVER read a book of hers?

Oh--sorry. You did.

Maybe you can get your money back.
