Finding radio stations away from home

Postby WarPony » Sun Oct 22, 2006 6:48 pm

www.radio-locator.com

I use this to look for programing that I like when I go camping out of town. I'm a big fan of the Bob & Tom Show so I like to hear them if I can. I also like hard rock and classic rock.

I think some of you will find this handy, hope it helps.

Thanks War-Pony, now I can listen to the classic rock radio station in my home town if I wish, KGB San Diego. A friend keeps telling me about programs not up here so now I have a way to tune in. Thanks, Danny

Wow, that brings back memories. I left San Diego county 30 years ago, used to listen to both KGB and KCBQ.

KCBQ as far as I'm concerned sucked next to "KDEO 91 wonderful" on the AM dial but that was looong ago. Do you remember that one? Do you remember Reggis Philbin doing the news with harold Kean on KFMB TV Channel 8? That was way back in the 50's he is older than you think. Danny

Wow!!!

What a blast from the past.
I was born and raised in San Diego and KDEO (Radio Kadio) was the greatest. I especially enjoyed (sweetness) Perry Allen with Ron Reena(sp?)(little ronny roadtrip) on sports. Last I knew, Ron was the media spokesman for the S.D. Sheriff's department.

However, we do San Diego radio history an injustice if we forget Harry Martin (Happy Hare is on the air!). He got tossed off the air for a while for telling jokes thet could be taken "two ways". These jokes are so tame by modern standards that they are probably told (and understood) by third graders!!

I also remember that the dj's allowed me to "hang out" occasionally at San Diego's early "underground" radio station, KPRI.

I'll close with a TV trivia question. Does anyone remember Raquel Welch as a weather girl on KFMB TV?

C'mon...

Who have I left out?

KFMB alumni include former weather girl Raquel Tejada
(later known as Raquel Welch)

I'm a fan too, but how do you find out which station carries them? I didn't see any type of search engine by show.

Jeff, go to the B & T homepage and click on the "Affiliates" tab at the left hand side of the page. It will show you all the stations by city and state that carry the show.

I too was born & raised in San Diego (left in 87) and some of my old Clairemont school mates claimed to know Raquel Welsh but I was always sceptical. Happy Hare was very obnoxious and the reason I had a difficult time listening to KCBQ. I think it's Country now. But no I don't remember her as the weather girl but that's cause I couldn't stand Reggis so I watched another channel. Do you remember Bri Walker as being the mouth to advertise (was it?) KPRI before she went into the news? :) It's been so long ago I don't remember it all. Danny

Duh! I never thought to check the B & T page.

By the way, the pet costumes were great!
