"Foul" Language

Postby Chaotica » Mon Nov 13, 2006 9:39 pm

I'm sitting in the ER waiting room today waiting to get stitched up and there was a girl in her early 20's talking on her walkie/cell phone. She says to the girl next to her, this sucks, I only have like 3 Loving minutes of cell time left. I heard he from across the room.

The waiting room wasn't that crowded but there were some older people there and some kids. I'm not easily offended by language, as a matter of fact I don't think I've ever been offended by language.

But I do make an effort to not use "foul" language in public because I know a lot of people are offended by it. Does anyone else do this or do you just not give a Love?

Chaotica... Yep. I wouldn't even use that word on this off topic forum... Even in describing an incident? Just not cool since this is a family friendly place.

OK I think there are at least three stories here
1. Why are you getting stitched up?
2. I thought there was a filter on the forum and we couldn't use the "F" word? This is a public place too with old people and youngsters and some middle aged people and Ma3tt here.
3. If the "f" word doesn't offend let's find something that does.

 The filter isn't working? Now the really juvenile thing to do would be to see how many obscenities we can post before the "Man" catches us....

I grew up in the sixty's and seventy's. I rarely notice the "F" word till it's in print. Hint HINT.

So Where are the pictures of you getting stitched up. Cause little girls think that word makes them sound tough.

We want to see the blood or remove the ugly word.

OBSCENITIES

Postby CPASPARKS » Tue Nov 14, 2006 12:13 am

Yeah I get offended by foul language in public.

I can cuss just as well as anyone....but I am sensitive to my surroundings when I want to use a foul word.

I have never heard my mom (78 years old) say a cuss word. I never heard my dad say the "F" word.

I never really heard the "F" word with much regularity until I was in my 30's.

IMHO...I think it is just a degradation in our social order and the acceptability of such behavior.

Since I am big enough to back up what I say and do (6'7" and 322 lbs)...I have been known to corner people who use bad language in public...wear obscenities on their clothing..or park in handicapped parking when they are not handicapped....

I think if more people spoke up and shocked some of these people (usually young people) it might make them think the next time...

But...prolly not.... :x

Doesn't now, never has or will ever offend me. BUT that is me and I generally try to keep it to a minimum around folks I've just met or haven't known long. It does offend some people and should be used with caution in some situations.
But when you are in a public place such as that I try to avoid using it all together. It is just ignorant.
Now I'm not saying you'll never hear it from me if I meet up with you at a gathering somewhere but I will try to keep it to a minimum until you get some booze in me then all bets are off.

Most younger folks have little consideration for their surroundings these days.

I think the chirping noise those cell phones make ought to be outlawed. It's bad enough we have to listen to their conversations, but with the walkie talkie feature we hear both sides and that obnoxious chirping noise.

I'll just tell you that you'd better be careful with that. Nothing bugged us more (even cussing) than somebody giving us a hard time for parking in a handicapped spot. My mother-in-law was not able to walk short distances without becoming short of breath. But becacuse we were parking in a handicapped spot, people automatically assumed that you had to have a wheelchair or something.

My buddy would have the same thing happen to him. He said, "It makes me want to take my fake leg off and beat them with it!" Yeah, I see people who don't look handicapped but I let it go, maybe they are, maybe they aren't, you never really know what is going on.

In Florida, the handicapped parking sign is our state symbol.

It never bothered me to see people using those spots, despite their "healthy" appearance. What DOES bother me are those idiots who wait 15 minutes for someone to leave a spot, just so they can be 20 feet closer to the store.

Oh--dirty language? Hard as it may be to believe, I would never use it in public, and only with close friends. I think it shows ignorance and inconsideration to others.

I do have an accident now and then though.

CUSS'N

Postby MOKI SEAKER » Tue Nov 14, 2006 8:44 am

I agree with Ira, on that one, no need for it in public, it just shows ignorance. I was in the Navy, in the good old days 61-64 and found it hard to curb myself in public, but I did the best I could.
