I've been checking these BFAds for a week now. I've been researching to buy an HDTV, but none of the BFAds have tempted me to be in line on Friday morning.
Ok, hijack time:
The WM HDTV I saw on early bird sale at WM is a Proton and I've read some bad reviews on them, especially regarding customer service that is practically non-existant and sets that just stop working.
Staples has a 32" Magnavox MAG 32 on sale for $499 after rebates. I have a dead Magnavox sitting in my living room floor right now. I also can't find any info on that particular set, even on Magnavox' web site, so I don't trust it to be worth even $500. Magnavox is made by Phillips (also make RCAs), and I have had problems with ALL Phillips products I've bought in the past.
Result, having checked out the sets, viewed them side by side and listened to the sound, I'm down to the Panasonic 32" at WM. It's a clone of a the same set sold at BestBuy for $100 more, that only has two differences...one letter different in the model number and it has 14 watt speakers as opposed to 20 watt speakers in the regular model that BestBuy sells. It came down to a choice between the Panasonic and a Samsung at the same price, but the Samsung's speakers sound really tinny. As to cheaper WM TVs, I'd rather pay more and get a decent brand and better features. (WM sells at least one nother set that is an identical clone, so that they can get away with cheaper prices than other stores.)
