Adding keywords to photos?

Postby mikeschn » Thu Nov 23, 2006 8:42 am

I have so many photos, it's getting to the point where I can't find anything any more. Help!!!

Ideally I'd like to find a utility that adds keywords to the native Windows file, not to a photo album database like Picasa or Corel Photo Album.

Keywords are currently supported, but not very well implemented. I believe Vista will make some huge improvements... but until then, is there a utility I can use that will let me easily add keywords to the Windows file. The reason I want to use native files, is cause I don't want to lose the keywords as I move from computer to computer...

Thoughts anyone?

Watermark Factory will do batch names, like the name of a project, or outing.
Will place them in a new folder as it re-names.
Shotr of saving each image individually, I'm stumped! I too, have a lot, about 100-gig, on a separate drive, of images . I keep them ogranized in folders, created in Watermark Factory. A method to locate a particular image with a search engine, would be great. My cousin developed a "find engine" He sells it to large corporations for database organization, and search..I'll have to ask him about images!

Or there is this way. Hold curser over picture and see what happens.

Maybe we just have to wait for Vista... (Jan 30, 2007)

Find and organize your photos quickly

With Windows Photo Gallery, you can find the photos you want quickly and easily, and choose from several ways to organize them to suit your personal tastes.

To make your images easier to find at a later date, use the new Windows Vista Import Pictures and Videos Wizard to add descriptive keywords to your photos about the subject, scene, or event. You can add keywords to images when you transfer them from your camera to your computer or at a later time.

Windows Photo Gallery also includes a new star ratings system. Rate your photos, and then organize or search for photos based on the ones that you like the best. In addition, Windows Photo Gallery now lets you search for your photos by the year, month, or day the photo was taken.

Held cursor over the picture and nothing happened, but at least I did see the picture. What is the trailer ?? or is it owner built.

It's a 1965 Prowler. When holding the curser over the pic, '1965 Prowler' should have poped up at the pointer. It does when I hold my curser over the pic.

I always check & test when I'm making a post like that to be sure it works.

Gage,

It worked fine for me, only problem I had was when I placed the cursor on that red & white trailer in the background it still said 1965 Prowler....

It's all in the html coding.

Here is some other info that may or maynot help:

Just select in an Explorer window all the files you want to change, right-click, select Properties, go to Keywords tab, add keywords, click OK or Apply. I normally do this from an Explorer window with the display set to Thumbnails so I can see the images. After setting a group of files to a common keyword(s), I can then go back and add individual keywords to selected files, if necessary.

Kerry,

Keypict does what I want, but it's beta only. I've got my application turned in.

Thanks,
