Greatest road songs ever......

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Greatest road songs ever......

Postby wolfix » Thu Feb 01, 2007 10:28 pm

Seems like there are many music lovers here...... I was flippin thru the forum tonight and got to thinking that many of you must love to be on the road too.... So ..... What "road song" do you like the best ??....... Not your favorite song to listen on the road, but the song that conveys the feeling that you have about the road........
I think the obvious choice would be "On the Road Again" with Willie......
But giving more thought then that......
I think mine is "Me and Bobby Magee."
Even though I think Janis Joplin was possibly the sexiest woman ever, Waylon does the best version of that song for road tripping ..... I just get the feeling for the open road of my youth whenever I hear that.......

And you guys?????
"I am the guy our parents warned us about."

Not sure about this... one but Sammy Hagar's "i cant drive 55" makes me go faster than the speed limit. On friday on the way home from work , the local station always plays Lover Boy's "workin for the weekend". I guess it depends on my mood when Im driving ........and to where Im going.....

:o How could you miss Route 66?

Woody Guthrie and This Land Is You Land should qualify since he spent many miles going from coast to coast.

That would be George Strait.

Wow you know Steve Earle. My favorite is Guitar Town.

I like "Texas in my rear view mirror" by Mac Davis. I always sing that when we are on a road trip and we get out of Texas after 8+ hours of driving.

Working here as a Hobby for Our Own Country Music Association which Im one of the Founders of back in 91 - 92.. I had the pleasure of doing a Radio Interview with Steve Earl.. At that time he spoke about Guitar Time and many of his songs... It was a real pleasure to meet him..

Another Texas Born friend is Dale Watson who has his band The Lonestars.. He,s been here on several occasions.. If you live near or in Austin stop in and see Dale and say hello from me...

http://www.dalewatson.com/

Now another event I,ll be working on is the Ballad Singer and Song Writer Tom Russell who will be coming over in March.. TOM RUSSELL with Michael Martin

Suomen kiertue - maaliskuu 2007

Tour in Suomi March 2007

BB King spent a lot of time here in Finland as well..

Garsh I was born in the wrong country... Another favorite of the 100,s is Trent Summer who sings the song - It Never Rains in Southern California.

It makes their music more special since Ive dealt with these folks in person..And all of the above is such a treat for us who live so far away from the Music and Events.. He has been to Australia many times over as well..Madjack may like his music possibly...
