That Damn License Plate........

Postby Steve Nikkel » Tue May 15, 2007 12:10 pm

Just got a phone call from my eldest....(a daughter) to say she loves me. When asked "What brought this on"....her reply was "I was just remembering the incident with the Plate"
Now before explination you need some background.....at 16 my long haired BLONDE daughter (and her fellow blonde best bud girlfriend/partner in mischief) were the type that turned every male head they passed. (It was at times funny,at others most disconcerting). It was first car time and I had been restoring a 65 Falcon convert for the occasion. Came the big day, big dissappointment, she had to drive my old "work car" a 280 Z 2+2 til she was more experienced. In the mean time, one of my friends had a side business making plastic replica plates with what ever saying you wanted. I placed an order....(and illegally affixed one to the rear of the Falcon) Several months later I decided she was ready for the Falcon (besides it was almost summer) That first afternoon they were going to go cruise the beach (enticing for Guys). Later that night I heard a screeching of tires as they arrived home royally miffed and HOT under the collar. After a long day of strangely being ignored everywhere they cruised......someone had pointed out their plate to them.......they came home on full Kill DAD.
OH yeah the plate....it read JL BATE.......

Too late, bledsoe ...

gotta order the concertina wire and the lighted towers and the dual 360-degree track 40 mike-mikes before they're weaned ...

get the electric perimeter alarm system and unbreakable windows while they're in kindergarten ...

next thing you know that 10 year old will be graduating high school, and you'll be wondering where the time has gone.

enjoy it while y'all can. it never takes long enough for a kid to grow up, and you can't rewind time.

My son and I went on a business trip to Maryland last week and he described how he sees that even kids today that are ten years old are now dressing like 13 year old who several years back were dressing like they were out to get what they wanted and that is 16 year olds and so forth. Where is it going to end? Then I think how I was dating a 15 year old 30 years ago and married her at her age of 17 after two years of going together. I was just 22 at the alter. The Lord has her and I miss her.

The parents should be taking care of this. I would never let my daughters dress inappropriately. I even help get my daughters school go to uniforms.

He was only commenting on this, He plans on sending her to private school.
