Another reason to hate Sprint

I read this article:

Which reminded me of this thread that was posted a while back.

I have Nextel Sprint phone now and I hate it. Liked my Verizon phone it worked much better. Hope the company changes carriers again back to Verizon.

Now that I wouldn't hold against any of them as I really think it is rather silly. But that's just me. I'm sure there are enough people without lives for it to sell well. 8)

What's to revolutionize??? It's a phone. All it has to do is ring or dial out when I want it to.

yet you bash Apple for raising the bar.

No bar, just the price tag.

I don't care who makes it, it's still silly.

GET A LIFE!!! APPLE RULES!!! MICROSOFT SUCKS!!!!

Just their little bitty corner I'm afraid.

Damn, I'm lousy at quoting quotes, so to address the above "points":

It's not just a phone--it's a computer with a real OS and full browser, and touch screen technology. You're actually going to be able to plug a keyboard in the thing and work in WORD if you want to.

Yeah, it's expensive--because it IS a computer, not just a phone. Anything Apple is always more expensive, because they INVENT the stuff, but the next version will be much more affordable.

They sold millions already, and although Apple now has a tiny % of the computer market, tell me a home you know of that doesn't have an iPod in it? I mean, it's not even like people are buying OTHER brands of a similar product. It's iPod or nothing.

Apple has been and will always continue to be the innovator.

Microsoft can't even manufacture hardware (aside from mouses), their OS and applications SUCK compared to Apple, and they give you the "privilege" of upgrading every few years for a few hundred dollars for the honor of using their OS.

Whereas the Mac OS sells for 99 bucks and they haven't cared if you pirated it anyway. (No registration/authenticaton needed.)

Where talking Volkswagens and Rolls-Royces here.

Try as I might I just can't wrap my brain around why this is important or even useful in my phone.
How am I supposed to talk on it with a keyboard attached to it?
Seems to me there are already umpteen different kinds of portable computers to be had, most probably less expensive and more useful so what's the point?

And anymore I don't really see much innovating going on. It's all there already, they are just playing with what's available.

If they really want to do something innovative I think they need to work on a phone that actually works all the time and anywhere and particularly one that I can hear ring and hear who I'm talking to.

I think you're stretching it a bit here. There wasn't a whole lot of inventing going on. All they did was squish down what was available and stuff it all in one silly little box.

BTW - There's already a Japanese one that's likely to surpass Apples' iPhone so it's likely to be a short lived hooorah.

Wow--you're still missing the point. It's NOT just a phone:

It's also a portable computer with 24/7 internet access. They're the first ones to see the "need" for this, and it's half the price of a laptop.

Which doesn't allow you internet access regardless of your location.

What don't you understand about this? This is the Blackberry squared...squared again...then squared yet again.

There hasn't been ONE tech reviewer to say something truly negative about this thing, except for the mandate to use ATT&T, which is gonna change soon. Yet you don't recognize this as a giant leap in techology and functionality? Yet MILLIONS of buyers have?

You probably had problems with the introduction of the wheel too, but you can't argue with success, and you can't stop progress.

If the iPhone was the only one to do this I'd be on your side. There are several "palmtops" out there that are cheaper and better supported than the iPhone, though.

On this we agree. WIndows without a GUI (and Macs are the home of the original GUI) would suck even worse. But, you know, not everything Apple has tried has worked out great, either. What was that group of PCs called, that came out in five flavors around 2001?

They sold millions already, and although Apple now has a tiny % of the computer market, tell me a home you know of that doesn't have an iPod in it? I mean, it's not even like people are buying OTHER brands of a similar product. It's iPod or nothing.

So, I'm a Linux user. Shoot me.

's worse than that. We're talking H-2 Hummers vs. Dodge Ram 3500 series pickups here.
Mopar's what my busted knuckles bleed, working on my 318s...

Earl, the only bomb Apple had was the Cube. Nothing to do with colors or flavors:

Those old colored iMacs sold like crazy.

And again I say, just watch:

They are going to sell millions and millions MORE of these "phones," and no one will be touch them.

Great product. Great marketing. And the market leader in the arena.

That doesn't make it all that easy for other companies to gain ground.

Plus...dare I say it?

An AMERICAN company.

Just curious when you got yours?
