RAGBRAI XXXV

Postby Bodyman » Fri Jul 27, 2007 8:10 am

I just got back from my morning coffee. Well over 10,000 bike riders plus many support vehicles will pass through our town of 5,000 today.
It is a mess already. Streets blocked off, campers , u-hauls, buses and whatever all over town. A few early riders coming through. But, just wait till later. It will be a madhouse. I just hope I don't need anything from downtown.
Ragbrai has passed trough several times in the past and stayed the nite three times It actually seems more organized when they stay the night
Well, it is only one day. It will be gone and forgotten tomorrow :applause:

Wednesday night it was in my neighborhood. LAnce Armstrong as at a concert down the street and the crowds were huge

.I love it!!!!! One of the reasons I want a TD is for RAGBRAI.....

Back on the first one I went on there were only 300 riders. Then over the next 5 years I rode some of them fully and a few just a few days. The growth was huge. ......

The last time it stayed in Manchester I ended up sleeping in a tent at a friends house on N Franklin because I couldn't find my buddies motorhome. I promised myself that I would never sleep in a tent again at 95 degrees....

I drove thru town last nite about 8:00. About 20-30 bikes in front of the bars but otherwise all had moved on to the Fri nite party in Dyersville. This morning you couldn't tell they had been here. A very orderly bunch I didn't hear of any problems Just the normal people who bitch about everything.
Wolf, I didn't realize you were that close If you ever make it to Manchester and want to see or talk teardrops stop at the bodyshop on the north edge of town.
