What's the best stuff to use to get rid of that cursed gummy goop?

There's something yellow in a small bottle that's called "Goop" something, right?

And if you need a lot of it, go buy some automotive acrylic enamel thinner....it's the same thing and cheaper by the gallon.

Hair dryer/heat gun...heat up and pull or wipe off!

If you use the chemical type stuff...put it on somewhere you can't see to make sure it doesn't react to the paint. Under the hood is always a good spot.

3M make a product called adhesive remover it come in a spray can. It works good and don't hurt the paint finish.

All the suggestions above will work. Be sure to NOT do it with the sun beating down on the area your working on. GooGone stuff will react with a lot of different kinds of paints so tread lightly. In my shop we only use products made for decal adhesive removal.(I can't afford to re-paint a customers car) A local sign supplier or shop may have what you need and sometimes you can get it at Autobody supply places. I've even seen some at the box auto part stores. I would give you a name but I always seem to get somthing different everytime I buy some.

Keep it out of the sun
Don't use any sharp blades to help with removal(Chemicals listed will temp soften your paint and it's easy to dig to far down in to your paint and create problems later.)
Lot's of clean rags or paper towels.
Rubber gloves to protect your hands.

Lot's of elbow grease! Depending on the brand of glue used on the decals. Some come off real easy and some just don't want to come off at all.

Good luck!

In south Florida in August?

Thanks for the replies, guys. The lighter fluid route seems to make the most sense for a first attempt.

Ira, I've used this stuff that Arthur mentions. I really works good, remember though, you may have some "ghosting" left on the paint from the removal of the stickers. Caused by sun fade on the paint. Doug

Hey Ira, I know YOU have used this stuff before, and I use it for removing adhesives on cars, too.

Bestine.

Very safe on the paint. Just be sure to wax after you get the goop off.

Bestine? Did I sniff it?

It's white, so maybe the fading issue ain't such a big deal.
