Storage??

Postby Micro469 » Wed Aug 15, 2007 9:01 pm

Sooner or later I've got to get the tear out of my back yard. The problem is that It's so wide I can't get it out with the fenders on. Once it's out it stays out, unless I take the fenders off each time. I might be able to store it at my B-L's farm, but he won't guarantee the condition it will be in when I want to use it. If I get a storage locker, it will cost me a load in monthly fees. Anybody got any good suggestions on where and how to store a tear???

John if I were you I would store it in Texas all winter and then of course you could return to Canada in the spring and store it in your driveway.

Can you put a Tuff Shed on your B-L's farm?

But cheaper than a monthly bill. You know he will use the building when the tear is gone. Charge him rent.

That won't work either!! You'll show up to put your trailer in the shed and there will be a trailer frame sitting there with walls mocked up. Better get a shed big enough for two trailers....

How about something like an ez-up canopy with the four walls. You can get several different types, sizes and price ranges. plastic tarps or canvas

John, I wouldn't go with any kind of a soft top/soft side solution if I were you--just won't last.

If you have a place to put it, check this out:

http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/ ... 70_572_572

Basically, it's a cheap kit (50 bucks) of brackets which allow you to build a small building without having to make any complicated cuts. The thing is, all YOU really need is overhead cover for now, so all you would have to do is set 4 or 8 posts in the ground (Quickcrete), install the roof trusses, and cover the roof trusses with corrugated plastic awning panels.

Of course, because you have building skills, you can build any kind of inexpensive gazebo shelter.

Is your uncle afraid of vandalism possibly taking place?

Northern Tool also sells a shed for around $500, but I don't know if you can modify that to make the door wide enough.
Here we go again!

Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

I don't know John... Looking at your album (pic with car and trailer frame) your driveway seems tight but the gate seems to be the problem? If you rebuild the gate so it swings completely out of the way... will the tear clear then? Seems to me, as nice as your woodie is you need a good inclosed storage place for it. Looks like you already have the framework for one under that blue tarp? For that matter, some kind of quick release fenders doesn't sound all that hard to do either? ...If you had to.

I know if I built a tear that nice, I'd want it stored on the home place if at all possible. Best of luck with your problem.

The gate's not the problem... At the back of the house I have a wooden deck that juts out about a foot, and against the fence I have a garden with my wife's favorite shrub right at the corner. It;s one of those Snowball shrubs. I can run over the deck, but I'll also have to run over the shrub.. :? :x . The space between the house and fence is 8' wide... My tear with fenders is 7'10".

Shoot... That sounds like a hassle to fix? Still, it's prolly worth the trouble.
Best of luck.

If some good weed killer accidentally got spilt around the bush I'll bet your dilemma would be solved! 8) 8)

I didn't say that tho.
