Happy Birthday notes, how much is too much

Postby Arne » Sun Aug 19, 2007 9:24 am

Today, half the notes were for people having birthdays...

How about doing them once a week, in one note, just listing names for the week....

Everyday I'm getting on and finding new notes in 60 topics... very tough to get through them all.....

Arne, I am not sure why our sincere Birthday posts are so much trouble for you. I post them and they are clearly marked who and what. You are not required to open them, just pretend you didn't see them.

I scan topics to see what is of interest to me in terms of building teardrop trailers.... scanning 50-60 topics on a daily basis is tedious.

If all you want to do is wish them a happy birthday, why not use the PM or EMAIL? I think that's what that option is for.

Arne I post them so others can join the wishing. If scaning 5 topics is too much for you then you are too busy.

I wish you only the best and would like to see you relax. I would also hate it if anyone said you shouldn't post this just because it was hard for them to read through suggestions/complaints. Perhaps you could take an extra few minutes to wish someone a Happy Birthday .

Wouldn't it be nice if the only topics posted are the ones we want to read. Not very realistic. ;)

Why not make a new catagory just for Birthday wishes? :D

We are looking into that, plus we are trying to find out if there is a way to block categories. So far no luck. We even tried in 3.0 and didn't have much luck.

I think Arne is looking at this from the male perspective, which is where I look at it from:

While it's a nice sentiment, most guys don't really give a crap about birthday wishes. It's a woman's thing--not a man's thing.

Plus, so many?

What' the big deal. It's like any other thread on here, if you don't want to read it then don't. I personally like them regardless who starts them.

I think most folks LIKE to be wished a Happy Birthday...especially ON their birthday...this is a simple fix...don't open or read them...if the 1/10th of a sec it takes to scroll past them is eating up too much time, then maybe a time management study is needed........

There are lots of "guy" threads and the women don't go around complaining that they be banned or given their own space. I am amazed that you people are censoring my posts. They are the most benign post on here and exist only to cheer and share the fun.

Shame on you.

In my opinion, a kind word is always welcome on this forum.

MJ has a point of the quick scan if you don't want to participate in an uPlifting 8)
moment. Expressing good cheer on a Birthday seems well placed on this
forum as we like a friendly atmosphere, to be sure.

Auntie M, has always brought home the flavor of good will here and I think
that we should be able to wish well those that we have grown close to, on this
community affiliation. She deserves to be listened to on this subject as she
has always brought sunshine here. A wholesome recognition and a kind word
put forth by Auntie M, is OK, in my book of life.

is good enough to be given a square deal afterwards." -------Theodore Roosevelt

Since I bought (instead of building myself) my teardrop, there are lots of threads that do not interest me. So I just skip right over them. I almost always read the birthday greeting, and sometimes add to them. I say leave them in.

Yeah, but we all know people's birthdays here by looking at the info:

And if Miriam or anyone else wants to wish 'em a happy birthday, that's what PMs are for.

I feel obligated to respond, guilty when I don't, plus, it gets kind of old--you know?
