Someday

Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Someday

Postby starleen2 » Thu Oct 18, 2007 8:53 am

Been doing some thinking (I know a little scary). Every need more time? Not enough time to do the things you really want? What about an extra day of the week? Sure we have all had that problem some time or another. So here is the solution to our dilemma. An extra day of the week – Serious. If we start now, with a grass roots effort it can become a reality. It could be placed in the middle of the week if you like. I’ve already got the new name for the day – Someday. The week would kinda look like this: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Someday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. When ever time runs out and we say I’ll get to it someday – well there you go – a time to get things done!

I love the concept. If the state government can add and subtract hours to our days at will when they want to change our time zones why can't we just add a day as well. I think it would be a great idea

What I really don't need around here is another day in the middle of the week. Now an extra weekend day would be fabulous

My boss at the advertising agency I worked for in New York for 10 years--a uy ironically or not so ironically also named Ira--had an expression:

Whenever he saw someone about to have a heart attack from overwork, rushing to get something done RIGHT NOW at the expense of your health and mental sanity, he would say:

"Don't take the strength out of tomorrow."

Meaning you'll get it done tomorrow and it really DOESN'T have to be done this instant.

I always remember that.
Here we go again!

When I worked for the city of Jacksonville we switched a few jobs to a "four 10 hour day" workweek. It was really cool having those three day weekends, Plus we missed the rush hour traffic. Sadly, it didn't last. It's still a great idea though.

I would like Someday be in the middle of the week. The longest work week is 3 days and half of them are only 2 day work weeks. Add a couple vacation days in there and you could get some serious time off of a not-very-grueling schedule. Two weekends a week sounds good to me even if one is only 1 day long. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I know, I know, they would figure out a way to work us to death anyway. Heck, a lot of the prople I know work almost every day now. Maybe we can just work on a rotating Someday schedule.

It might be tough to get Someday to become a reality if we can't agree on where to put it. I see another one of those annoying polls coming up.........

I just left a job that was 10 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. It took about 2 weeks of being unemployed before I began to feel a little bit normal again.
BTW, that's the reason I haven't been seen around here in about 7 months.
I took the job, figuring that it would be ok since I liked the work I was doing....well, it doesn't really work that way. I lived for that one day off a week (2 if I was lucky) and then I would be too tired and grouchy to enjoy it.
Live and learn, I guess I get to be older and wiser now. ;)
