My brother in law has a Kia Van and he towed a popup camper on a round trip from Broken Arrow Ok to Dubois Wyoming. It seemed to do ok without any problems.

Ahhh Flashdance, you can never go wrong when used in a commercial.

This one always cracks me up when it comes on.

Small Kias often win the lightest category in the annual towcar awards in Britain, though we do get diesel versions that are much better suited to towing.

But then British tow ratings for a Rio are 1500lb auto and 2400 manual (gas or diesel), though both are limited to 110lb hitch weight.

The question would be Which KIA?
Starting from the bottom:
The RIO - @100 hp - I owned one, would not rec towing anything, in fact wouldn't rec a RIO for anything, I hated that car.

The Spectra/Spectra5 - @140 hp - has the same 2.0lt Beta that my Elantra has, should be good for a lightweight TD

The Optima - 2.4lt 162 hp or 2.7lt V-6 185 hp - Should pull fine.

The Rondo - same motors as the Optima - but heavier and less MPG

And they go up from there. Check out www.kia.com for all the stats.

The Koreans make their cars as good as the Japanese, they want to win all over the world. With a KIA it is no problem towing a teardrop, or bigger.
The only thing in minus is, KIA's and other eastern cars are most of the time small inside, so the people unther us who are bigger or larger than stamdard, having a problem to have the right sitting-position.. That's why, you never find me in a car of that brands.

P.S. When you should have a brake equipment on your tear, you can tow easyly the maximum towing capacy.
Old bread isn't hard, no bread, that's hard.
