Tow vehicle rebuild

Postby Mark72 » Sun Feb 03, 2008 8:52 pm

I have started down the long road of TV rebuild.

Years of leaky windshield damage resulted in drastic measures to save the body.

The entire upper cowl and upper half of the firewall had to be replaced!

The donor car.

The scavenged panel fit in place.

And welded in.

In the meantime my wife was uninjured when she was rear ended in our focus resulting in it being totaled.

We made a deal to keep the focus and I will be repairing the damage myself so I can use it as a work vehicle. We bought it new with the z-tech engine in 03. It only has 51,000 miles on it so it will make me a good gas saver.

The nova is definitely going to take some time.

Good luck with the rebuild. Have you had the SS long? Looks like a lot of work…

The ford looks fixable good thing she was ok.

Dan, I first acquired the nova as a basket case in the summer of 1987 when I was 15 years old. Me and my father put it together and painted it as I drove it over the next couple of years. So this will be the second time for us.
The Focus is worse than it looks.

My youngest rug rat drove my Explorer into the path of a F350 supper duty… The Explorer lost bigtime but she walked away with a few stitches. This is what she is now driving.

I found it in Reno for $3400.

Looks like a good buy! I learned how to drive in a 1972 Chevy custom camper. That was a really good truck! Between it and the Nova there was plenty of mischief!

Rebuild??????

Postby Oregonian » Mon Feb 04, 2008 11:24 pm

Looks more like a reconstruct than a rebuild.. You have alot of work ahead of you. I took a postal Jeep and made it into my tow vehicle and it took me about four years off and on, mostly off, so good luck on your build. My Jeep will be at the 15th Dam Gathering.

You've got a long road in front of you, but I'm sure it will be worth it. When I look at a rebuild like that I'm humbled by my cowardice at replacing the 6 square inches of rust on my Metropolitan.
