digi t.v.

As we all know, feb. our beloved t.v.'s go digital. My question, to the most informed peaple on the planet, is, do the sell a converter that you can hook up to the roof antenea, or the only way to get t.v. is have one for each t.v. I'm too cheap to get cable, or dish, and would need 5 converters for my house. Or do they sell a digital antenea that I could replace with.

 They do sell a converter box and your government will help with the cost. You can't get a digital antenna but there is a thread floating around here or in General about it with the gov website.

I have cable everything so :R

I have 2 $40 coupons from unc. sam, I just didn't want to buy them for all the t.v.'s in the house. You would think if they can go rock runnin' on Mars, they can come up with something so I don't miss This Old House

I have NOT seen a converter, but if they have the coaxial connector on the back, like cable uses then you might be able to just put one somewhere for the input of the antenna and then distribute it out to each TV from there. How do you get the signal to all of your TVs now??

I have my converter, I haven't used it yet but looks like you can only use one converter per TV. Don't know of all are like this one but it's very small and compact unit and has a remote, I guess your TV channels are controlled thru the box so if you have more than one TV hooked up everyone will be watching the same program.

That's what I was thinking, I have a roof top antenae, but like emiller said I think it's one converter per t.v. :x

Satch,

I'm afraid you'll need a convertor for each analog TV. They'll act like a cable converter box or a VCR - you'll change channels on the box, and the TV stays on channel 3 (or you connect the box to the TV with video and audio cables like a monitor).

The good news is folks I have talked to that are on antenna go from 2-3 channels to 12-15 all crystal clear. My neighbor Jeff at Brown county gathering put one on his camping TV with a inexpensive signal booster and went from 2-3 to 16 channels.

My converter box is connected to an outside antenna. The picture is a lot clearer and there are more channels. The only problem I have with my converter box is you can't tape a show and watch another one at the same time.

Since you get two discount cards for two converters I used the second converter for my VCR. I used a two way signal splitter on my antenna cable. From the splitter I connected a short cable to each converter box. From the converter boxes a short cable to a two way A/B switch and from the switch to my TV. I use the A/B switch to set up the VCR for recording and then switch to the TV for watching shows.

Or if you have Two TVs use one box for watching TV. Connect the other box to the VCR and the second TV for recording.

Or just by a digital TV and hook that up to your VCR. Now if your not into recording then none of the above matters.

If you have Relatives or friends that are on Cable or dish have them get two discount cards and give them to you.

That's what I thought. It just "irks" me that with all this technology, they can't come up with a single unit to operate multiple sets. I sure can't afford to buy new t.v's for every room. This blows :x
