Postby mandy » Fri Jun 06, 2008 11:28 am

Yester day it was cold (62), it snowed here in the North and Northwest part of New Mexico. It's June and its still snowing. :? Today the temps will be in the 80s. This is just wacky weather. Anyway what if any weird weather is happening in your area?

:o Nothing major....just thunderstorms and tornado's, more than normal.

And rain, gallons of rain.....I heard we are 18" ahead of our normal average rainfall year-to-date. And it's just June. I guess we can rule out a drought for this year. The only problem is that it is so wet, that the farmers are having a hard time getting into their fields, which can hurt the crop output for this year.  That and my backyard is beginning to look like a swamp. :R

We pretty much went from winter to summer here in MI...

I think it was only a few weeks ago that it was too cold to work outside.

Now it's too hot to work outside... The thermometer in the car says it's 97 degress out there...

Mike...

Went from winter to summer to winter, and now it looks as if we are back in summer.

Mike and Diane: The weather changes in the mountains so quickly I have to wear layers to be ready for it. This is the main reason I need to build a TD a tent just can't take the wind.

Cowboy: Thats terrible you can't dry out the alfalfa cause of the rain :(. Looks like your horse hay will be cow hay soon.....

As predicted the temps hit the high 80's today.
Maybe It'll be in the 30's tomorrow.

Take care

2 tornado watches in the past 45 minutes, and we are in the middle of the third.
Flash flood warnings.
Hail
And my basement has 3-4 inches of water in it.

I only moved to the mid-south (from upstate New Nork) about 4 years ago. This has definitely been the weirdest spring since I got here. The first tornado this year came through in early February, about 6 miles from my house, and I've lost count of the warnings and watches since then. I do know..... I don't have a basement, but I keep a pillow and quilt in the hallway just outside the bathroom in case I have to jump in the bathtub and cover up in a hurry!! The really scary part is that I'm a day sleeper (work midnights) and I can sleep right through the sirens. I have to rely on somebody to call and wake me up to make sure I'm safe.

We have two sirens here in town, nether one works and we had a tornado
just outside of town Wedensday.

Quay County Sun had this to say

"After experiencing Wednesday night’s threatening storm and tornado warning, several local families say the city should activate its warning sirens and have an emergency plan to provide shelter...."

Duh! :?

So in the midst of all the weather I decided to go to 2 church festivals, but they were not running. I didn't think a little water and wind would ruin all these people's fun, but I guess it did. Oh well...

Well guess what.....

We had more rain, last night and again this morning, after Friday afternoon monsoons. And now we're expecting more rain tomorrw, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I am beginning to feel waterlogged.

Lost a couple of large limbs out our oak trees, Thursday night and Friday morning, due to winds that gusted up to 50 miles per hour.

Oh well, I am beginning to act like an Amazon native.....I feel like I am living in a rain forest. Just wish I looked better in a loincloth. :R

I wish we had some of your rain! As far as wind? Here in this part of he state we have winds over 20 mph 5 days out of the week, and we are having 35 - 40 today with 55- 60 mph gusts. The norm.
Wife just got back from Amarillo taking our adopted senior collie to the vet, got great gas mileage going over, not so good coming back!

And even with all that wind it made it over the 100 degree mark again today. Too much of a good thing, all that rain, been watching it on the NOAA radar. Man has the middle been getting hit hard this year.

Here are two links to sites I use daily to keep an eye on things when the sky gets weird.

Accuweather radar

And talking about weird check this out too
