Those are different, I must say. I wish I knew what they are called. I do know the Isetta's but the others I am at a loss to name. Thanks for sharing them with us. I am waiting for a Smart car. Don't know if I will ever get it or not. I reserved back in January I think, and they say it will be some time in 09, Sept. to Nov., before I will get it. There is a chance I will get it sooner but who knows.

Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

We were going to visit this place while we were in GA
http://microcarmuseum.com/

They are open from 1:00 to 4:00 Tues, Wed, Thrus. I thought I could head over there while Mel was at work. Then I saw that they were closed May, June, and July so that pretty much ruled out that trip.

I'm very interested in a smart but the fact that it has no back seat and the waiting list is so long has me searching for an alternative. We sold the wifes car a few weeks ago and she's going to get cabin fever if I don't get her another car soon. We're moving to Colorado Springs sometime soon via the military moving me to Peterson AFB so I had planned to wait till after that to get a car.

Why do I always go off on a tangent? Anyway we have been looking at older civics but I also like the TDI Jetta.

I thought it said "Spot". None of the Smart cars look like that in front. Check them out. I liked it too and wondered what it was.

The other one is an Isetta and I was wondering if the pic was staged because I can't see it pulling a TT. Oh well, what do I know?

Smart did put out a Crossblade concept, and that picture looks like a custom mod to that original concept. I like the beefier looking tires, but they would reduce the fuel economy.

I wish this version of the ForTwo was available in the US:
http://www.zercustoms.com/news/New-Smart-ForTwo-CDi.html

Unfortunately Mercedes Benz is restricting sales of the CDi version to Mexico, Europe and a few other world markets (probably Oz, but I can't confirm right now). The CDi used to be sold in Canada, but now only the gas version is available in Canada and the US. Previous versions of the Canadian CDi can not be registered in the US. Yes, our government protecting us from effeciency at every turn.

BTW...from the zercustoms.com link, the 3.3 L/100 km fuel consumption converts out to 71 MPG when you do the math. Boy, I'd hate to get that type of mileage!!!! :?

Yup, active duty air force since '99. Colorado Springs will only be my 3rd duty station though, they have really cut the PCS budget. You have to do 4 years at a base before you are even in the "pool" to be considered for a move.

They used to give us that 4year or 3year on station or whatever, but if you really wanted to move, you could. Anyway, what do you do? I was enlisted and served in commications for 16 years and then became a First sergeant until I retired in 95.

The Smart car that we get in the US is not worth it. Another sensible car like the Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, or Nissan Versa are better choices. I read an review of the Smart in Car & Driver, in it they (only) got 32MPG from the Smart. Considering all you have to give up, I don't think it is worth it.

Fellow Comm troop? Wow. I'm an enlisted Communicator, they have us separated into radio/satelite/computer and so on, and I'm in the computer area. Currently an email/active directory administrator. I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to be doing up at Pete Field though, probably an operations center type job doing security, customer service, breifing the big guy and what not.
