Car Porn Thread (cool racing videos)...

Postby caseydog » Thu Jun 26, 2008 10:46 am

Since there are a bunch of racing fans here, let's get a racing videos thread going. Post links to your favorites, or any new, cool racing videos you come across.

Any kind of auto racing is fine -- variety is the spice of life.

I just found this today. It is an in-car video of David Brabham doing a lap at Lemans with a voice over of David talking about the lap, with speeds and descriptions of turns and such.

Then, they run the video again without voice over, at "full volume" to get a feel for what the driver is listening to.

You have to scroll down to click on the video called "Lemans: In-car Laps with David Brabham" (and click the button that says "View Larger Video")...

While not a racing video I might as well add it. This is a video of a Corvette on the Autobahn. The driver of the Vette is a sibling of my sis-in-law and he has a serious need for speed. The guy doing the taping was going around 100mph and the vette was around 200mph

I have been having issues with youtube for some reason (sometimes it plays the video sometimes it doesn't). Here is another link, which is linked to youtube but the video works

I'm not much of a racing fan, but I thought this one was pretty cool.

Two crashes that amazed me then and still to this day that the drivers didn't die...

Michael Waltrip's Kool-Aid Car Bristol Crash

I thought I had just seen a guy get killed, his brother Darrell was color comentator that day and got pretty emotional... Mikey walked away, a bit wobbly and woozie, but unharmed.

Geoff Bodine's Truck Crash At Daytona

Geoff was seriously injured in this wreck, but did return to racing and changed his name to Geoffery.

Are you one of those people who just watches racing for the crashes? :o :R

I was kinda wondering if someone was gonna ask that...
The answer is NO.
I spent a good deal of my early adult life doing sports photography, mainly stock cars. Having finally made it to what I considered the top, Winston Cup, after thrashing my equipment for years at more dirt tracks than I care to remember...
Because of this, I got to know most of the drivers in Cup.
Most of them I liked, a few I detested.
Stock car racing wasn't something I just fell into, it started before I was even in school... The first time I ever saw a race car. (About age 4)
You might say I lived and breathed racing for most of my life.
Davey Allison was one of the nicest persons I've ever met, Ernie Irvan was who I rooted for, they don't come anymore down to earth than Ken Schrader and Jimmy Spencer comes from another world.

Thats my driver!
And I love the old paint scheme. I wish they would bring it back.

I called the DuPont company (found the number after visiting their website) to see if DuPont sold exterior paint to apply to wood. (I wanted to paint my teardrop with DuPont paint.)The woman on the phone explained to me that that part of the company was sold and she then asked me if I could tell her who told me about the DuPont company. I told her Jeff Gordon. She said "Who is Jeff Gordon.' I said "I am a pretty big fan of NASCAR and he is my driver, so I just wanted to support them." "And she said "Oh right, he is a driver isn't he?"
A driver??
And she didn't speak with an accent, so I think she was from the US, but any way, I got a chuckle out of it.
